Hey everyone- unfortunately I have a terrible update. I drove the car down to the shop, everything felt totally fine. Mechanic said the coolant and oil has mixed, with a whole host of other stuff which I need the invoice to confirm to y'all, but basically the dreaded headbolts issue is here. I'm honestly surprised at how bad luck this is since I've only driven the car for 300 miles and there were no warning signs. The shop is good, with lots of other high end vehicles as clients. Trying to be positive- as now I can finally drive headache free and with upgraded SLS parts. Ill send the invoice once I get it but based off the phone call: new headbolts, lifters, resurfacing of cylinder heads, head gaskets. He said based on past experiences it will run me in the range of $3000. Is that a fair price? Thanks everyone.
And at 300mi since purchase, you can bet the prior owner knew. Sorry, there are no such things as coincidences - especially the unlucky kind.

At least you can mend this at a reasonable price and know that the engine is in good shape and enjoy the car with no worries after its done.
My worst nightmare is facing the catastrophic failure situation where I'll need a new engine.

All is not lost, your issue can be fixed with a little money. I had my head bolts replaced without removing the heads, one at a time. Which preserves the clamping force on the head. But your engine will require several flushes to clean out the oil and coolant passages. If you can get a price under $3k take it. I would also look at getting your lifters, and possibly cams replaced definitely if you plan to keep this car for a long time. I replaced everything except for the cams as they were is great shape, showed minimal wear.

You guys are right- I'm looking at this as more of an upgrade rather than a repair as now I can finally enjoy this car without worrying about this issue arising again. Taking y'alls advice and going ahead with the upgraded M159 lifters as well (not the SLS Black Series ones), updated head bolts, valve cover gaskets, resurfaced cylinder heads, etc. total cost coming in just shy of $4000 which I think is still reasonable. Will let you guys know how it drives after all the work is done! Thanks for all the advice I really appreciate it.

Maybe add those to your list if they are old, fairly cheap and easy to replace.

UPDATE: hope everyone is doing well. New updated headbolts, updated lifters, refinished heads have been done and I couldn't be happier! The car drives SO much better than before- it's basically a totally different car to what i first had prior to the issue. Really happy with the results and can finally enjoy this beast without worrying about the headbolts. If you're in the Houston area, be sure to check out Legacy Motorworks- they did a great job at a very reasonable price. Thanks everyone here who gave me advice as well- much appreciated!

I live in Qatar, and i am interested in a 2013 Model C63 AMG with 165,000 KM on it.
Do you recommend it?

Hello,
Thanks.
The owner claims that he has the service record.
I'm going to meet him on Friday and will take the care to a garage to check it physically (Paint, Engine, Suspension, Electronics...etc.) and will have it scanned as well.
I will update you.
Thanks.

Gonna revive this one!
My 2008 C63 just hit 156k miles. Stock head bolts, still running like a champ.
Had to change the valve covers @ 125k and power steering pump @ 135k. Other than those, its been regular fluid changes.

2013 P31 at ~154k. 1000 miles away from qualifying for my first grill badge! No major issues. Had a pulley let go once but that was my fault, I heard the bearing going out and decided to drive another 300 miles on it!
I stick pretty close to the factory service intervals with the exception of oil changes being done every 5000 miles.
