Mother f***ing SF potholes

Do you have any authority to support that? Or is it just your opinion? I only ask because it may be unconstitutional to do that, in which case a suit could be brought against the state or city without their consent.

That is insane to have holes like that and not even have a sign. I have some bad streets here but OMG thats crazy. A huge patch of pavement missing.. smh. I bet around your city hall it has nice pavement..

Well, I wouldn't say that 20" rims were the problem...that would make you more prone to denting if you hit a pothole because they're thin, but perhaps it's more about tire choice and coverage. I'm definitely going with 245s next time around.

That sucks...and thanks for the heads up on the potholes. Going to avoid that street.
On another note...where are you taking your car to get new tires? I need to replace my tires in the upcoming weeks.

Thanks for the sympathy, guys. I'm just glad I'm traveling for the next two weeks so that I won't miss not having my car. For tires, I've had to special order them online but this time, I think my body shop guy is going to source them for me. He has a good relationship with Wheel Works next door. Otherwise, I've had good experience with Gomes Wheel and Tire in Oakland. They're fast and they can get stuff in a pinch. They were also one of the recommended shop by Rimlox (obviously from the name, they're the guys who made my rim locks).

Sorry to see what happened to your rims.
That's the reason I'm staying with 18". The only way I'll go for 20" is if I live in Japan.
I guess we should all be grateful they are not repaving the road with gravel. That seems to be the case in many parts of the country given the current economic situation.

Coolbd,
You blaming the city is wrong. You said there was road construction.
THE ROAD CONTRACTOR IS LIABLE not the city.
Did you make a police report?
If not, your screwed.

NYC roads aren't any better...if you drive in the city it feels like you're off roading. I have to dodge potholes, dips, craters even in my WRX on 16's. it's ridiculous.

Perhaps, but DPW is responsible for all City matters. Police report is not necessary. I've dealt with this gentleman before and he was very polite and quick to get this resolved.

Update:
The city of SF contracted this out to a paving company and despite my best efforts to document this incident and the damage, they denied my claim last week. So I filed a claim with my insurance in addition to the recent vandalism.
Turns out, after further inspection, the bumper frame is broken and I can fit my finger in a gap between the bumper and one headlight. Plus, my front lip is cracked clean through...again.
As irritating as it is to have to get another bumper and front lip after they were just replaced 4 months ago, AAA basically made it hassle-free. One call from the adjuster and everything was submitted and approved via email in ONE day.
