Wheel spacer and stock suspension

I'm thinking about getting 10mm wheel spacers front and rear, but I need to keep the ride height the way it is bc I am scraping all over the place (I have p30). What do you guys think, will it look like a hot wheels car if I use spacers without eliminating the wheel well gap? If anyone has done this, I'd love to see pics. Thx.

Go for it, it cant be worst than it is now. I mean right now your oem are sunk in at stock height, so pushing them out to be flushed with the fenders cant harm the look.

I'm also searching for a set of 12mm front & 10mm rear for my future OEM 19's set.

Spacers are never a good thing. Use only as a last resort when all else fails. They add both unsprung weight and rotational mass. You're also changing your offset with maybe outside the specs the car and or alignment was designed for.

After reading about this more....don't think I am going with spacers....Duane and simple physics is right. We really need longer axles...

Spacer = bad long term

The use of spacers can spark a big debate, so it's about personal choice.

I think it's worth the look.

I'm with Meng on this...just added 12mm to the rear, wow what a difference. I don't think I'd use spacers if I was tracking my car but for daily driving, I'm fine with it!

Thanks Meng for your responses to my PMs. I really appreciate your advice and input. You are a very kind and helpful member. Your dimensions were spot on as I was going to start the order through H&R. I'm trying to get Multispokes and want them to sit flush but ABSOLUTELY do not want to deal with a near fused spacer or sheared lug bolts....

The more I read, the more horror stories I discover. I guess I should keep reading and do some more considering. Like you mentioned I can always come back to them. Considering camber pressure and the force exerted on tight cornering and track use I am afraid of instant damage...

Now to get my H&R springs back....

Ur welcomed Zeph, it's great u r searching for more infos on the use of spacers & can make ur own judgment that will fit ur usage. No mods are 100% safe, including H&R springs.. But I love the look of my lowered car.

As Craig mentioned, I would not use them if I was to track/drag race my car or drive aggressively at every highway curves. Although I believe Dads, olszowa & Dome are using spacers at the track w/o problems.. But for me, I would get nervous. Daily driving for cruising or doing errands is fine.

This is only my opinion & I'm not trying to tell ppl that spacers are safe.. They just have to be used with caution. And in all honesty, I would not have bought the OEM 19's multispoke if I didn't have this option on pushing them out as I think they don't look good sunk in. Advan F15 would be my next choice if no spacers. *drool*

Hubcentric spacers are very safe as long as you get they from a reputable supplier.

The H&R Trak+ spacers lock the wheel and hub. I ran 10mm hubcentric spacers with longer wheel studs upfront with no issues or virbrations and they were perfectly flush without negative affects on cornering or speed.....just tryin to dispell some myths

I'm not trying to take away from anyone's comments here...just giving my personal experience.

So other than a negative effect on Cornering with spacers on. Is there any affect on acceleration? I only drive around city and highways but I still want to maintain the acceleration for highway

I run 12mm in the front, 10mm in the back. Had them on lowered as well as stock height. At stock height they do not make the car look like a hot wheel, it is in fact the opposite because whether you are lowering or spacing it is filling up the wheel well and you are seeing less of it. 10 is about as far as you want to go, but 12 up front still leaves a little room.

I have always said that when showing off their new cars always do 3 things. Lower, tint and spacer. If you look at print ads for everything from a Honda Fit on up. When LFM and I went to the unveiling of the RS5, Audi had put 20mm spacers on it. Never said this before but they were pretty hot looking?!?!?

As for safety and engineering everybody has to make the call they are comfortable with. 10mm of spacer on either side of your car adds .85 of an inch. Total. We have a wider track than a regular C, and the black series has a wider track than us. Personally, I think the .85" falls within some zone of tolerance. I have used them on several cars, on several track days, and never had an issue. Mind you I have always used the H&R widetraks. As mentioned prior, they come with bolts. I think that if there was any danger of bolts shearing off or anything like that, H&R wouldn't sell them. Not because of conscience or anything, but rather fear of litigation where payouts would dwarf profits on such a cheap item.

To me, the amazing thing is how much difference 10mm makes. My wife will never notice it, but car guys always mention the nice stance. Follow your heart.

As with most things in life, there are two sides to every story. I'll run the spacers, 12 and 10. Gonna wait til I get my new wider tires, though, to make sure the spacing is correct.

I run 12mm and 12mm with KW V3's and everything is perfect. (stock 18's) Car is low and wide. No rubbing, even with 4 people in the car. Speed bumps are another story but that has nothing to do with the spacers.

yes, stock. 265 in rear with how low my car is would almost certainly rub. I would just adjust the coilovers to sit a little higher and things would be ok.

I have 275 in the rear w/ oem multispokes...when the snow passes I am going to try out my 10mm spacers on the rear to see if they might somehow work...just eyeballing it I can see they will fit, just need to stress test them on bumps...def a shot in the dark, but the rears really need whatever the biggest spacers they can fit...so if 10mm doesn't work I will get the 5mm hubcentric spacers Callmiro suggested (or something between 5mm and 10mm if they make em)
