Exhaust..

Okay, this might of been discussed before, but i've been looking all day around and can't find an answer.

I currently have an xpipe/straight pipe secondary/resonator delete. And wanted to go up a step. Headers are too overpriced and honestly not worth 4000 for a decent set of headers. I was wondering if anyone got their primary cats deleted or how is it done on these cars. I know it'll cause a cel, tune will be coming in by the end of the month so thats not a problem. Would i need to order a pipe or could my exhaust guy just move the xpipe further up and straight pipe it till the resonators?

TBH i'd wait and keep an eye out for headers on the used market. At least that way you have some decent gains to go along with the sound. I saw a couple people selling theirs for under 2k not too long ago..

This is my current setup. The empty spot is where the x pipe was installed.

You can purchase a set of Kleenman short/log style headers and it comes with high flow cats. I saw some specials new for $1000. You should do a search and PM Kleemann. About 20 whp gains and not as loud as LT headers.

primary cat delete will probably be louder than it appears you want. i've heard it, and it's almost as loud as headers. primary cats are likely the biggest bottleneck after the exhaust manifolds. Not sure what you're after since you've already done everything but headers, but don't want the header sound? What kind of gains did you have on the dyno/track or are you simply after a sound difference?

I don't mind the header sound, it's just the price thats a turn off for me and not possible at the moment. So if you know what gains people have gotten from a primary+secondary cat delete that would be great. Also what i should tell my exhaust guy before i go ahead with the primary cat delete. I was charged 2000 to install my previous headers. Im no gear head so idk how a primary cat delete would be.

2000??? should have been 500 at most. you'll get some gains by deleting the primary cats, maybe 10whp?? IMO, not worth the trouble. i'd leave it alone at the setup you have, or get some headers.

Yup, got ripped off bad, tried a couple shops and no one would do it so i had to settle. Just found this great exhaust shop in Manassas so he does all my work now. So primaries wouldn't be worth the trouble? I mean i wouldn't mind experimenting, just a overlay of the process would make things go by smoother when i actually go and do it sometime this week.

Also, i'm still on warranty, would this void it if anything happens to the car? I could always put them back on anyways. Or would it affect service?

Read this, you might find more if you search further. And of course you're at risk of voiding your warranty if something were to happen.

That 1000.00 special at Kleemann is current. I just had my delivered yesterday - 800.00 less than the normal cost. FYI I am having them installed at a shop in Fredericksburg for 700.00, which I was told wasn't bad.

That Magnaflow stamped X pipe is a piece of junk.

Get some headers already. Who wants a noisy car without the performance of one?? Weird

that made me red, haha it WAS only 100$ with install so whatever. Whats the difference between my X pipe and the gt-pro one? My car pulls way quicker above 4k rpm with this xpipe.

I do not have a link, but if you call Kleemann and speak with Cory, he will tell you about it. He was extremely helpful with me and shipped the headers out the very next day.
