TWIN TURBO 63 Engine Project
We are building a Twin Turbo kit for the 63 engine and we decided to use an SLS model to prototype the kit on. We are building this car for the SEMA show and if you would like to see some prototype pictures of how it's coming along you can like our Facebook page and keep up to date on all of our Mercedes projects.
We are also building a new ML63 for the show and a C250 Coupe.

If you look at his facebook you can see that the turbos are sitting where the cats would be. The turbos are sitting at the bottom of the engine. I dont think the engine compartment would be a problem. Its the tuning aspect and the high compression that would be a problem.
An amazing task to undertake either way!

Don't know when pricing will be out but we will have basic specs on the car at SEMA and detailed Specs soon after. We will have a horsepower and torque number at SEMA for a low boost starter kit.
We figured if we were going to turbocharge one of these engines we may as well start with an SLS.
We don't know, we haven't really looked into that yet. We are on the lookout for a C63 Black Series to buy that we would like to turbo and go racing with.
At first the factory wing was going to be removed and a piece was going to be welded in and the big GT3 style wing installed. luckily we came up with a solution for a completely bolt in wing application so you can go back to the stock set-up in no time at all. Our GT3 wing set is completely bolt-on and does not require that one additional hole be made from the OEM set up so we are pretty happy with that part.
It has been an exciting project and we already have so many ideas on things to redo in the kit one the next prototype that we will be building right after SEMA. The final piece is really going to be a kit that an SLS owner can be proud of.
I never really looked at a C63 and seriously thought about where to plumb a turbo kit. When I used to listen to Mike tell me we should do turbos, I never took it seriously. We will definitely be looking at doing that sometime soon.

I guess I will see you guys at SEMA then.
On a side note, I've never been a fan of compound boost, the IAT's are usually to high and the supercharger comes off eventually.

I would think that the marketplace/demand for the C63/CLK BS/BS is quite larger than the SLS. I wonder if the setup will pass OBDII emissions?
