Need advice on Trim Kit adhesive
Hi guys,
I need your help on what to use as adhesive or removable glue on my CF trim kit.
I'm having troubles with the door pieces, I first used the double sided tape provided with the kit but it start peeling (yes, I prepped my OEM door trim already). It just that our door trim has a curve to it, and the trim kit is straight.
I also used my own 3M double sided tape, same result. Now my last resource would be to buy a kind of glue that is easily removable/ reversible ... unlike crazy glue or super glue.
Thanks in advance.
Here is the pieces i'm talking about:

i would think that you would have to prep the trim in a way that wouldn't make the process reversible, ie, scuff it up with sandpaper so that the adhesive grips better, or use some super tacky stuff. or, depending on what the material is, maybe use a heat gun or something to mould it a bit before applying?

I know the best route would be to sand the clear from the OEM trim so the trim kit adhesive grab better but I want to keep the OEM trim in 100% shape.
That's why I refuse to use super glue on it too. Any other glue that is like silicone that would stick & be reversible?

I also put masking tape overnight to apply pressure, no luck.

Thanks 604 C63, for always being there when I need help! Lol I would appreciate the brand & serial number.
Prindone, I got the kit on eBay. It's from Hakimov. It was less than 200$ for a lot of pcs.

Update: I found double sided tape for car moldings/trim at Canadian Tire.
I applied many short strips vertically instead of 3 long strips horizontally, it looks like it's holding much better now. *keeping fingers crossed*

Ok we'll hopefully that works. The tape I have used is 3M VHB (very high bond). Use that and it ain't coming off unless you tell it to. Can you shoot me a link for this kit? I have the CF package but I wouldn't mind a couple of pieces. I looked on eBay for but got like 2400 products.

I've tried searching for klassno/hakimov trim kit, but it says sold out. Well, check this thread, i got the link from here:

I talked to fast, tonight my door trims started peeling again at the bottom... unbelievable!!! i dont know why, i tried 3 different tapes & prepped the area well.. but no luck.
I used electrical tape to apply pressure on that area overnight... if it still peels off tomorrow, I'll let my bodyshop deal with it. LOL
The best would be to take the oem trim off, but i checked the DIY & it looks like a lot of work. MB doesnt make anything easy on our cars.

Hey Meng,
already said this the other day, the best way to handle this is to contact whoever you bought the set from and order in a replacement

Hi Tim,
LOL, I bought the kit 2 years ago... so I'm not expecting any sort of warranty on it. It's too easy to blame the product, but sometimes it's part of the wear & tear ... actually part of the modding game.

haha not saying ask for warranty... but to pony up some $$ for a replacement piece. Sometimes, nothing else compares to the original.... adhesive included
you never know, maybe he has that specific piece hanging around

I believe the facelift model (2012-2013) are different from the pre-facelift.

If I like it, I might start removing the rest of the kit slowly & wrap them instead.
