H&R Coilovers?

Hey, anyone have any experience with these. I realize there is alot of talk about KW being the best but was wondering about the H&R ones. Thanks!

H&R coilovers are also top notch. Search the forums.

I installed H&R coilovers onto my w211 and the quality is excellent. They installed easy, are very adjustable, and the ride quality is still good even with my car slammed.

Thanks guys, that's what I'm leaning towards. Don't want to pay for some bells and whistles that the KW3s have if I'm not going to take advantage of it. I did some more searches and people seem to be very happy with their H&R coilovers.

Do you find the H&R ride less bouncy and harsh that stock?

And does it matter that they don't make them specifically for the coupe? Not sure about that.

There is nothing listed yet in H&R Coil-overs for the C63 Coupe. Maybe ask a distributor if they are expecting anything or maybe the web site is not updated yet. Maybe give James or Tal at ACG a call and see if they have any information. You can email James: james@acgautomotive.com

My P30 suspension was stiff and very harsh, even on small impacts. The H&R's may be as stiff but they certainly don't feel it...damping is much superior so the ride is both better controlled and more comfortable.

I didn't really have a basis of comparison before since I picked up the car with the coilovers already installed, but I will say it is a firm ride...especially on my low profile tires. I am, however, impressed with how well they take a full car load and curves. My real beef is that the C-class aren't nearly as deep as an Infiniti or BMW thus the topic of rubbing comes up frequently. There are lots of ways around it (adjusting suspension, tire/wheel selection, spacers, etc.) but H&R as a company is very reputable, as far as I can tell, and not just with MB but lots of imports.

Unless you plan serious track time, The H&R are the way to go. Also consider adjustable rear camber links and front camber bolts.

I think what Craiger needs to know is if anyone has installed them on a coupe?

H&R sells them for the coupe with the same part number so the valving and spring rates would be the same as they are for the sedan. Which shouldn't be a HUGE issue but I'm also curious to know if anyone has noticed any issues with how they ride on a coupe.

H&R coilovers on my C55. 1.5" front drop and 1.3" rear drop. Running ContinSportContact3 with 235/40/18 up front and 265/35/18 in the rear.

Drive wise it is similar to stock and a little more softer even on L.A. roads. Canyon driving the car has noticeable less body roll and turn-ins are fairly neutral as opposed to before when understeer would be the order of the day

I'd think if the curb weight and weight distribution are quite similar between the coupe and sedan there would be no noticeable differences whatsoever.

Exactly, it can't be THAT far off but KW does have different part numbers so it makes me reconsider

That's what I was thinking too. I don't think a company like H&R would make it available for both coupe and sedan if there was any real negative effect on the ride/performance of one vs the other.

You know, given KW's positioning as the "premium solution," for marketing purposes I'd probably slap a different part number on them also. Just sayin'...

True... They even charge more for the coupe coilovers.

Either way Craiger, I think you'll be happy with the H&R's!

Hey guys, I'm getting quotes in the range of $1,000-$1,200 for coilover install and alignment. That seems high to me, what do you think? Thanks!

Seems about right for Cali pricing. Canadian labor rates might be lower. Consider the MB Arts upper rear control arms (ACG in San Diego is a dealer) that allows you to adjust camber and MBZ adjustable camber/caster bolts (4 total) for the front.
