Please Don't Flame - Transmission and Tune
Hey All,
I saw a recent post on here about transmission problems and was experiencing something similar so thought I would post up. I'm also getting a tune done on Saturday and wished to confirm it wouldn't make my problem worse.
Firstly: When I am in sports mode and floor it from a stand still, it seems in certain situations (random) that the car doesn't want to change gear and it kind of jolts. When this happens it's like it's changing from 3rd to 4th or from 2nd to 3rd and the car is only running on momentum but is no longer pulling. It takes like what is maybe 1/2 a second before it then decides to engage the gear and then continues pulling. Is this a common problem and something I should not worry about? Like I said, it doesn't happen all the time but it's annoying when it does. I believe someone said it's not enough torque and cuts off but I'm not quite sure on that.
Secondly: I am getting an OE Tune tomorrow running 98 octane fuel. I am trying to hit 0-100 in 4 seconds or under however want a quality tune. The car is completely stock and all that has been done is a resonator delete with straight pipes and a Dad's CF hood. As I am in Dubai, this will not include the handheld but simply me going to their partner out here and having the car tuned on the 98 octane rating and then me driving away with the car.
Thanks in advance and sorry if these questions have fustrated any of you

Is your trac control off? I think it'd be difficult to find a situation where you can say the c63 doesn't have enough torque, especially with small 275s in back.
And I'm sure you mean 0-100 km/h in under 4 seconds since you're in Dubai

Hello ffx, yes, thanks for the reply. When I say 0-100 I mean km/h and not mp/h
I didn't think it was torque related but yes, traction is on and it's awesome tracking from start. I used to have 255 but put the 275s and now I'm not sliding from launch. The problem is when it's changing gear I think from 2nd to third or 3rd to 4th or maybe even 1st to second. I'm not really sure but it jolts, the engine revs a bit and then it engages again and starts pulling again but something is definitely not right. It could be normal, I don't know?

Thank you both. Will definitely try that. Will you all believe I've had it for 3 and a half months now and haven't once tried it with traction off!

Np, sport mode is more then enough fun, turning traction control completely off could be scary at times because she turns into some sort of scary monster! lol
Love your car man

Thanks man. Soon going to put 2 piece AMG S55 OEM wheels on it in black and tomorrow it's going in for lime green brake callipers. I'm stoked!

WOW - Loving the ESP Sport Mode. The only downside is it's a little slower at the few times you do lose traction that in regular sports with ESP on. The advantage is it's a lot quicker than when power cuts when traction is on.

I think you were referring to my post but as long as you're not experiencing significant delays with ESP in SPORT or OFF then your transmission is fine, give or take a random delay between shifts (unfortunately that's just the transmission).
Be safe and be careful with the tune. Make sure your tune doesn't void any warranty if you have one. Happy New Year!
