Happened tonight while in a movie. It actually goes more than halfway across my hood and across the badge.

Damn, that is awful--so pointless and stupid. These people must live in a very unhappy and dark place, probably a bunch of kids being "tough" So sorry man.
What would a dash cam do in this instance? Most likely a group of strangers and the police could give two $h!ts. I guess you'd know who did it, but if it's not someone you know, you're SOL, no?

Once you have name /contact and video, the police will be able o do something

That is really a big shame on those who did it. Act of jealousy or just stupidity. But i agree with black-clk500 the cam won't help you re-paint your hood unfortunately.

that happened to me too on my other car.. also while at the movies.. i parked far away enough so people don't see/notice the car but still it happened.

Agree with earlier post about checking the theater to see if they have security footage on the parking lot.
Same thing happened to my M5 just before my lease ended.

sorry to hear bro. same thing happened to my m3 in college...HUGE key mark across the passenger side door....omg I was fuming, but some people are just simple minded and barbaric and I soon realized this, calmed down, had it fixed and was at peace.

That sucks CoolPh!! That's why I never drive my car to the movie theatre... just for piece of mind.

it's probably a long shot, but seriously just ask the theater manager if they have cameras outside. if you're extremely lucky, maybe they happened to catch it on video and then you can watch to see what car they then left in and maybe you can see their license plate.

This should make some of you feel better.
A number of years ago a friend of mine had too much to drink so he climbed into his back seat and had a nap. Some guys broke into his truck as he was sleeping in it. He reached over the seat and choked one guy out, the other guy ran. He then drove (with the guy out cold) to a busy road, stripped the guy naked and left him on the corner. Then mailed the cops his wallet with a letter explaining what happened. Wonder if he ever claimed the wallet??
Now I'm not saying what he did was right or legal.....but I think deep down all of us had a little smile while reading this.

I asked the security guard on the way out and he said there were only cameras at the entrance. It's a 6-story garage and I was there for The Hobbit so it could have happened anytime.

I was watching The Hobbit too last night, and I wasn't in the best neighborhood but my friends wanted to watch it at that theater and everytime there was a small lull in the movie I would think to myself I wonder if I am going to go back to my car and find it like I left it.
Really sorry to hear about this. Its because of people like that, that we constantly have to worry about our cars.
