Close to purchasing C63 AMG Coupe - Quick questions
I've driven the M3, RS5, IS-F, GT-R - I love the GT-R.
Last night I drove the C63 AMG Sedan - loved it but I want the coupe and am very close to ordering it.
The Black edition is out of my budget but I want a decent set of wheels should I purchase this car. Does anybody know if the Coupe (non BS) can fit the same BS size wheels on the fronts and rears? 285/30 - can it fit 20" wheels without rubbing?
Also - the base price is 63k but it really adds up with options....any advice here?
The options that I must have are:
Diamond White
Red/Black interior
Carbon Trim
Development Package (P31)
Limited Slip differential
KEYLESS-GO
Multimedia package
Lighting package
The parking stuff and assist stuff is nice - and I honestly feel the car should come with that stuff standard....as well as the LSD, Keyless, multimedia......
My config comes to 84k after gas-guzzler/etc. What do you think of that number? Is there room for the dealers to negotiate with me to bring that number down at all? I didn't notice any dealer markups on their cars in the lot.
I'm currently driving an extremely modified and beautiful 03 G35....I could link you to my Craigslist ad - I'd like to get $15k knocked off the price in a trade in.... (i posted it for 20k) - I'd then put another 10-15k down on the car and finance the remaining.....
Any experiences to share with me before I go for this? I'm looking at financing but I saw the balloon payment option and was curious as to the benefits of going that route. I live in Southern California if that helps....
2) these cars depreciate like rocks - lots of debates about leasing vs financing, but put simply if you only plan on driving the car for 3 yrs or less, the cars are fantastic candidates for leases
3) just my opinion, if you love the GT-R so much why not just get it? Great car too.
4) no idea what used G35's go for but I do know dealers for the most part are not going to pay for mods, so trading in a car for more than the book value, despite mods, may be a stretch
5) wheels - many have 20's, don't have first hand experience with the specific size you refer to so I'll defer to others. I prefer 19's frankly, 20's look oversized on these cars without a drop and other bits to round out that modified look
Depreciation for the c seems less compared to other AMG's. Perhaps it's because there is a larger demand for it due to it being the entry level AMG model.
GT-R's utility wouldn't be as much as the C63 sedan due to the GT-R being a coupe without folding rear seats. The annual MSRP increase on the GT-R places it in a different price category now away from the group of cars you have mentioned.
Edit: you can actually go with a Quaife LSD aftermarket since it's cheaper and 100% lock.
Check out some wheel manufacturers websites as well. ADV.1 has a cool looking edition 1 C63 with 20's I believe.
And I would agree with a previous post that 19's look better than 20's, but that's just personal preference. Mine came with stock 19's (edition 1) and I'm running Michelin PSS 275's with no rubbing.
Good luck and if you do get it you'll love it

C63 is a "performance" model, & the two most important options are P31 & LSD.
No brainers for us, but I was talking to the AMG man at Mercedes Melbourne, & he said that whilst increasing numbers were ordering P31, maybe only 5-10% ordered L.S.D.
Sure, ya can get a tune, but P31 is more than just a few KW, & sure, ya can get a quaife or whatever, cheaper than the factory LSD, but our car is a keeper, and having these two (in our opinion) very special performance options, makes our car just that little bit more special to us.
Cheers, Pickles.

..and the guy driving it always thinks he's so cool in it LOL.........good luck with the MB pick-up
To OP - would never buy the car without p31, LSD, multimedia, lighting pkg. just me. If you have zero concerns about warranty and are going to modify, skip p31 generally speaking.
I loved Fletcher Jones Mercedes in Newport Beach. Made me want to stick with MB for all of my car purchases. As for the rear tires, I'm not worried about stance as much as the reviews stating that the current wheels on the stock car are prone to breaking loose....unlike the Black edition that comes with 19s. My G35 has 20's with 285 in the rear - love how it rides.
I'm trying to determine how much this car will depreciate in a few years and if I'd be better off leasing for a few years and then buying the black series once the price comes down.
I really love the way this car looks - both inside and out.
Owning it OUT of warranty is a dangerous proposition. 30-40K for a replacement engine. 15K for a short block IF you could possibly find one in the US.So far, even though there are some known issues-I've yet to read where anyone has actually had a catastrophic failure and some have been seriously modded.Just beware that MB is very much aware of ECU tampering, alot of guys do it,but IMHO, if you play you MIGHT have to pay!!Overall, I think you will be very happy with the C63- short of the GTR I can't imagine wanting anything made in Japan.. 2013 is the last year for the 6.2 liter so....get while the gettin is good.
