C63 AFE Filters / Charcoal Delete

Just wondering if there is noticeable sound gain if I change to K&N filters: such as Start up, cruising, idling ?
Also I suppose it will be a little noticeable speed gain like removing the secondary cats..
Where do you purchase K&N filter? from this site: http://www.carid.com/2011-mercedes-c...rs-320284.html ?
I'm in Canada so anyone know better sites or place to buy these
thanks!

Hey why did you buy the Pro Dry S instead of Pro 5 R? Sounds like Pro Dry S is easy to maintain and Pro 5 R is for maximum gains? they're both same price so probably don't have differences?

Installed AFE Dry filters on my 10 C63 today, 0 issues / no CEL. But I can't see why guys get it if they aren't sealing them properly, it's a real trick to making sure the back corner goes in flush.

Maybe a little sound? but I can't tell, throttle response feels a tad better, reminds me of resetting the adaptable trans on BMW, just renews how zippy the throttle can be.

hey thanks for the offer man! really appreciate it, but I ordered the K&N filters from knfilters.ca earlier today.
I didn't want to go through the hassle from the states so i just ordered from their Canadian web store.
But can someone tell me how often I should clean the K&N filters? I m guessing every 3000 km?

Hey guys, my K&N filters arrived but just have a few questions regarding high-flow air filters. Been reading about it online and almost every site mentions the cons are dust particles can get in easier.
But our filters will be all sealed up and also covered by the MB plastic , so I guess this won't be much of an issue for our C63's?
Also, I'm going to add oil to the filters and leave them overnight to drip all the extras. I believe this is the best way? It's pretty cold here at the moment should I leave them dripping in a warmer area lol

Maybe they add too much oil to their filters? I'll probably buy dry later on anyway. Going to need 2 sets lol. A back up while one is being cleaned for the day would be nice

+1 for low maintenance, no fuss dry filters!
K&N are pre-oiled from the factory, just make sure you dab a paper towel on them to take up excess oil which can mess up the MAF sensor.

Well, the computer has no way to determine the space in your air box. The CEL is most likely idle fuel mixture adaptation issues. However, it should not be so drastic as to throw a CEL, or every time you changed out old filters it would come on. It does not. Most likely it is getting the air box properly seated in the connection after the MAF. An air leak after the MAF will certainly throw a CEL.
I guess it could in some cases have problems correcting, but I guess that could be one reason for the wide variety of results.

I had some KNs and I tried installing them three times. Each time I would put them in, about 4 starts later I would get a CEL, it would shift wrong and buck as I rolled into the throttle. Each time that happened I would reinstall the stock filters and the symptoms would go away and then the CEL would turn off as well. The trans shifts off of torque request logic which is ultimately derived off the MAF signal, so if it doesn't like the airflow vs maf hz then you are screwed.
I threw the KNs away.
It seems like some of these cars have a wider tolerance for fuel trims than others. Not sure if it is a variation in operating systems in the ECUs or what, but there are some that can run filters with no issue. Just the luck of the draw I guess.
