Guys, as we can see, there is no one supporting propain on his vendetta against Weistec and he is now lashing out at everyone who has an opinion different to his.
I kindly ask you do not respond to any comments from propain on this thread and like a rash, he will eventually go away...

Can anyone ever just make a post about something they are proud of without it being questioned or having an asterisk attached to it.
This forum was and still should be about enthusiasts and not cynics.
Sorry Earl that your accomplishment got muddied up but it looks like Rock closed it. Make sure to post when you break the 10 second barrier. Congrats.

He is just telling that an auto car is just point & shoot at a drag strip... And no matter how you say it , its right
You just press the pedal and keep the steering wheel straight....
I've already seen you ecampbell driving that car with one hand.... so....
At the end of the day , you only have to practice on the shifting points.
Don't bash me , never been to a drag race lol. I'm just saying what I saw on the vids... I tried many times the launch control in my BS , and guys ... its easy.... Now I do agree that you probably need some more practice with 1000hp lol !
Then , I'll ask Jrcart to come on PL and fight with his uber monster vs my little C around a real race track to prove I'm not afraid about "real" power ( god you made me laugh so much )

This is just my opinion but I say point and shoot. Some skill is definitely needed as far as paddle shifting is concerned though.
It's pretty clear in the video Steve is not battling to keep the car from steering into the wall or the other lane. To me it looks like he's concentrating on nailing the shifts which can be difficult in these cars and I suspect even more so with a Weistec blower thrown in the mix. I wouldn't mind hearing from Steve since he was the driver.
Hopefully this thread can stay civil from now on since this is an achievement for Earl and Weistec and should be treated as such.

I don't know any of you guys but reading through the posts ( that was hard lol ) , I don't see where he is bashing Weistec......

The car is definitely a hand full to shift properly. Even with all the transmission modifications we design and manufacture, there is certainly a limitation to "easily" going fast with the 722.9 equipped cars. We are making close to 900 HP at the wheels. The 1-2 shift is instant. From the time your foot comes off the brake to the time your brain can process that you are moving you shift. Sounds easy but with there is so much stimuli when racing you can miss it. 2-3 shift is the hardest. You actually have to time it perfectly. I can't really say what RPM to shift at because I just listen to engine speed. I have hit the limiter here a few times. 3-4 shift is the most straight forward. You have time to look down because 3rd gear relatively longer.
The part that impresses all of us is how these cars are so consistent and reliable. Both cars went 139 MPH just about every single pass. It was just a matter of sticking the shifts and getting a clean launch.
In the end, these cars aren't the easiest to drive. They do require a good understanding of what is going on. Hope this clears it up.

The timeslip of the record or the other timeslip that was mentioned?
Here is the record timeslip. I only have it because I was the other car (7670). If I owned the C63 I would be damn proud to post this slip--so I am going to. CAR 526. From my perspective (as I analyze my timeslips all the time), this car obviously has 9 second potential as his mph is 139. Also, with a back half of 30.38 mph, backhalf seems pretty strong. The 330 is right where it should be (4.21) as in the past my car used to run in the high 6.40s in the 1/8th and my best 330 time was a 4.19. So all in all it looks to be a great pass.

Thank you for posting.. He has a CLK Black Series though, not a C63...(Same engine and tranny) They are just in the C63 forum because its busy.
Not being a smart ***, just thought you might want to know.
Just went over your build sheet, impressive. Do you have more valve lift on the intake than exhaust?
Do you have the redline set at 7500rpm as the dyno sheet suggestions?? Piston speed must be getting up there with a 4.5" stroke.

Cam specs are that way because of N20 and the difference between the intake/exhaust ports. Valve lift is .773 for intake, .749 for exhaust. The significant difference is in the duration, 282 @ .050 intake - 296 @ .050 exhaust, a 14 degree spread favoring the exhaust to help it "keep up" with the intake due to the nitrous use.
rev limiter set at 7800. Shift light at 7200 which usually results in 7500 rpm shifts (transmission shifts are instant, its because of me--as by the time I see the shift light and actually make the shift, the rpm has already gone up from 7200 to 7500.

These Mercs can be a royal pain in the butt when it comes to launching and shifting. Especially when you have a 1900 stall converter(stock) or even a 2400 stall if you have the upgraded stall from Weistec. Either are terribly low for a drag car.
Keep up the good work and be safe!!

Congrats buddy! Not to hijack but one quick question for you / others roughly about the same topic and not wanting to start a full thread on it but what's the quickest way from 0-60?
Sports mode, Sports ESP?
Sports mode ESP on?
Sports mode ESP off?
Did it with my tuned 63 with ESP off today and I nearly **** myself! If I was on the road i'd have crashed into cars on the left, right and behind me!

Yeah man, I normally am with Sports ESP or ESP on. Tried with ESP off with the new 295 tires today. I started and turned almost 90 degrees to the right and pulled into one lane on my left ( I thought it was going to pull into the central reservation so steered it), then tried steering it more and it pulled like 120 degrees to my right into that lane and then the tail just spun behind me. It was crazy scary. I am NOT driving with ESP off from launch ever again.
