The line lock I had worked like a champ, got it from evosport. I was running hoosiers, so made it easy to heat up the tires. Now, before the line lock, could still do a burnout, esp off, car just seemed to buck around a little more at the start due to the rear brakes grabbing.

It sounds like you're holding down the brakes too hard. Put very little pressure on the brakes and mash the throttle. It's really not that difficult!

This is an old video but here is a brake standing burnout on my old 2010. Pretty easy, traction control "off", manual mode, left foot brake, right foot gas and away she goes.

I suspect Dr Q didn't completely disable traction control.

There is a stall limit on all torque converters... you maybe trying to rev the engine to high with the break on...

First off doing this is not the best for your car and second if you cant figure it out on your own probably best to not do a burnout at all because odds are your car will get wrecked when you slide sideways into a curb of bounce off some cars in the parking lot. Not to mention the others that have tried to show off and ended up with tickets lol

If your on private property that you own by all means have at it till the tires burst.

Agreed. I think Dr Q is pushing too hard on brakes. Think about it. It's like pooping; you can't if you're holding sphincter really tight.

so if your rear brakes are worn out then what is that like?

i always remove it when i tune cars anyways, you know, for burnouts!
i had the same problem with my cls. just couldnt do a burnout. and the traction control WAS off. i held down that button for 10-15 damn seconds. but the car would just rev up and down and sound like it was bogging. no matter what. it just would not do a burnout, from a standstill.

when you have your foot on the brake there is something preventing the engine from building revs

^^ dunno about you guys but I can hold the brake and smoke the tires through 1st, 2nd and even 3rd.

Wonder if poster knows how to turns ESP off completely by holding it down for 10seconds or until it says off on the dash.

Its very possible the newer c63 have something the prevents burnouts from standstill using brakes. It was in my m3 and only way around it was tune or line lock

It doesn't use brakes, it simply does not allow the throttle to open much even if you floor it. It can also reduce spark timing, etc etc.... It's called Torque Management and it is present at many different times....through shifts to save transmission wear, when you stab the throttle the ECU can reduce timing because it ANTICIPATES knock (even if there is no knock) and 100 other instances for power reduction. All of these things can be (should be able to be) corrected with a tune. Most of the power gains, from what I understand, with a C63 tune come from simply allowing the throttle to open all the way, lol.

I think you need to drive one before you comment on it. Every C63 driver knows you can do long smokey brake stands without any vehicle intervention. Get your learn on

Maybe Higgs is onto something. Do all the cars doing burnouts have a tune?

My car doesn't have a tune and I've been through 5 sets of tires...John Force refused to sponsor me

More example of brake stands

These cars are pretty easy to do burnouts with as long as all the computer nannies are turned off. This sounds like user error to me.

Thank you guys for all your concerning and kind reply!!

I actually didn't even know I could put my car in ESP-off mode by holding the button..
Whenever I tried.. I push that button once to turn into ESP-sport mode..
And I was also holding the brake 100%.. -_-;;;;;
Yeah.. First is always the hardest..

I was going to try but there are still snow on the road near my house..
So maybe this weekend!! I will try and let you guys know!!

Again, thank you for all the replies!!

Hold the ESP button for about 5 to 10 seconds and a yellow light will appear on the gauge cluster that says Off. You should be good to go after that but be careful because no more computer baby sitter.

After 6 months of ownership the V has been great and I do not regret my decision one bit. The power delivery and handling is impressive for such a heavy car. Much easier and cheaper to modify. An upper and lower pulley swap, cold air intake, injectors, exhaust and tune put these cars over 600 @ the wheels.

I loved my C63 but GM got this one right.

That's awesome to hear....I'm thinking about maybe picking up a used one from the auction....did you get the stick or auto?

I hear the Caddy forum is full of good info and lightening quick rides
