AMG News- C63 4matic/ E63 Black Series?

Company also considering a C63 AMG 4MATIC

AMG’s senior powertrain engineering manager, Jorg Gindele, has revealed the company is testing a C63 AMG 4MATIC.

Speaking to Auto Express, Gindele said the company has already built a prototype and he knows this "because it’s my car.” Gindele withheld details but said the model is currently being evaluated and could be approved for production.

Gindele also confirmed AMG is developing an all-wheel drive version of the next-generation S-Class. He didn't say much about the model but it is likely the S63 AMG 4MATIC.

More interesting, Gindele said the company will offer an E63 AMG Black Series towards the end of the current generation's lifecycle. There's no word on what will power the model, but we wouldn't be surprised if it is more powerful the E63 AMG S which has a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine with 585 HP (430 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.

They're not making a E63 BS... it's complete BS.

A BS can't be 4 doors (unless Dad's makes the conversion LOL). A BS is supposed to be designed for the track... not a 4dr grocery getter sedan!

And if they gonna make the C63 AWD... please give us the option to get it in RWD. I'll never buy an AWD performance car... all the fun will be gone!

Why can't the Black Series portfolio include a 4-door car? Mercedes has had some pretty successful 4-door racecars in its history. The last championship winning Mercedes in the DTM had 4 doors. Also, a 4-door E63 will race in this year's Aussie V8 Supercar series.

There are plenty of cars designed for the track with 4 doors.

Have you ever driven an AWD performance car? You might change your mind. Unless you just like to drift..

I had the chance to drive a 911 Turbo and a GTR and I didn't like them. I love to drift. That might be the reason I'm being skeptical. On a side note, from what I read and heard, AWD cars tend to understeer. I haven't had the chance to try them at the track so I can't be objective regarding that last point.

How about a fully adjustable diff where you can turn the 4Matic on and off....go from 2 wheel to 4 wheel with just a push of a button

The technology and hardware exists.... All they have to do is tune and implement it

that's simply a matter of a stiffer rear sway bar, then you can drift all day long....and have awd to pull out of it.

awd is always better, you can simply put more power to the ground.

The rear sway bar won't eliminate the front plow or understeering. The understeering is a result of the front wheel breaking free from having to put power down and steering....like a front drive car...

All the rear sway bar will do is swing the a$$ around....thats why no one kinda competes with 4WD drift cars...

Again....adjustable diff....let us turn the 4WD on and off!

Do you really want a C63 that is even heavier? No way I'd go for a 4Matic C63.

That is the point.
It's heavy enough already.

Because when AMG launched the AMG Black Series program in 2006 they stated at that time the Black Series designation will be exclusive to coupe models only.

????

cut/paste
Like many of AMG’s latest models, we’re expecting the C63 AMG’s replacement to feature the Affalterbach tuner’s rear-biased (33-67 front-rear) all-wheel-drive system as standard here in the U.S.

My bad, I wanted to say there's still no confirmation of the engine and AWD. They are "expecting" but still no confirmation, we'll see!
