Wait for the New C AMG??
Hey Everyone,
New to this Forum, and hope to meet and learn from all you AMG owners .... Am asking you guys since most of own ( or just Adore ), the current C63 platform, plus I keep hearing about those M156 that gets hydro-locked or suddenly problems appear out of nowhere. And now am stuck in a dilemma, Should I wait for the all new C?, or just go with the current one?

@Guilty, Ya, my engine didn't and hopefully wont get hydro-locked or whatever; that's why when I began my sentence announcing that I was new, you aren't required to answer if that is your reply.
@ZephyrAMG, True, that's why am asking now, 'cause I have a choice, should I wait ? or go for it now? I drove my friend's CL63 and other friend's C63C, they're all amazing cars, but when AMG introduced the new E63 with 4Matic, performance looks promising, but don't know how it's going to perform in the new C.

OMG I'm dying....
But to further answer, you take a risk with everything. New models may lack the guts of older beef, older models benefit from enhancements...
Hydrolock is less of an occurrence in 2010-up...
now its just whether you want M156 or potential bi turbo...

@Guilty, Here you go, list of common problems that goes with the C and the M156, And that's just the 1st page.

@ZephyrAMG, True, didn't notice as much problems with newer models, gotta make sure where I place my bets. The 6.3 is just crazy, especially with light mods; but FI shows potential in the future too.

Get a C now. Given the design direction of MB as of late, my bet is the next C will look weak and be fugly. I really hope I'm wrong because they are amazing machines but boy, talk about ugly noses and feminine lines.

You seem very opinionated so why bother asking this question to begin with. We are all different and our tastes change. If I was in your shoes I would wait until the new car came out to see if it was really something of interest. However if you want to be driving a performance car right now then I would pick up a current C63.

to your original topic. if you like the current car for its sound, performance and looks buy it. if you are iffy then wait.

@gthal, Ya, am more leaning towards the current gen of the car, I do understand your point, but I was pointing the " issues " to one very immature member here , but I am just asking because one common and is listed the 1st is the head sealing. I know I should expect anything, but shouldn't be as much concerned, but sometimes tend to over think about every little detail.
@VaclavSV, I am bit, but at the same time, I like to ask these questions aloud in case am missing something.
@Fung63, I know I am in a sub part of the forum, trying to prove a point to some one here. I like to hear everyone's tales and stories on their experiences and how they got past it, as I mentioned earlier, I am leaning towards the current Gen.

The days of the large displacement engines will soon come to an end, so if you appreciate that, you don't want to miss your chance to own one. If you're worried about issues, just get an extended warranty from MB. Chances are it's going to be fine.
Every new iteration of a car will have improvements in technology, but is newer necessarily better? Only you can answer that.

I think its too early to talk about the next gen C63. it all speculation and hear-say. Besides, the next gen is atleast 1.5 years away from hitting the dealerships. Go and buy the current C63, if the next gen interests you, then trade it in. if not, u can always keep yours!

The attractiveness of the current C63 as an overall package is at an all-time high for this platform. Knowing what I know about its replacement - and assuming it ends up being a 4.0 TT as rumored - I'd go for a '13 coupe if I were in the market for one now. I doubt you'd regret doing that. JMHO.

I try to stay quiet and just read on this side of the house, but sometimes I jump in. It does seem that the newer cars don't have most of the issues mentioned and has been wrung out and tweaked pretty well. It actually seems there are quite a few higher mileage daily drivers out there, but it all depends on how it is driven and maintained.
Of course whatever the next generation brings will have all of those "first year of a model/configuration" issues all over again. But it will also have new and cool features, and I am sure incredible performance.
This thread really reminds me of should I wait and buy the iPhone 5S (or whatever it ends up being called) or should I wait and buy the version AFTER that one?

2013 C63 coupe (on the way)
I pondered the same question for some time, but ultimately decided to pull the trigger on a current generation C63. I've always been a fan of the linear power delivery of NA engines, and love the exhaust note of the current C63. The lack of a manual transmission almost had me looking elsewhere, but the overall package is perfect otherwise.
It'll be here late March or early April and I can't wait!

If you're into NA, get the current C63, else just wait for the next updated version with FI..
IMO, I love the NA version! It's an AMG man.. what else is there?!

Its been less then 24 hours and a rare occurance and your lumping my rare battery issue in against all C63's that weird... my battery issue isn't going to stop me from saying that the C63 is the best purchased I have ever made... it was also the most expensive thing I bought with my own real money in one day... no matter what, if I have to buy a new battery every day for the rest of the life of the C63 it will still be the greatest thing ever!
After seeing these new models and the fact that Mercedes is going to make a front wheel drive car. These cars now might be the last of the great benz's only reason I went with Mercedes is I want rear wheel drive... plain and simple.

2013 C63 AMG Sedan on Order
I ordered a 2013 C63 since I thought it was the last year of the M156, and because of which, most semi common issues have been resolved (i.e. head bolts). Turns out 2014 will be the last year, so you have another 9 months or so to make the decision.
#25
The problem with the head bolts affects cars from mid 2010 and older.
Its not a huge issue. But if it happens to you, do you have the $$ on hand for repairs? If you don't, go with something mid 2010 or newer and don't worry about it.
The engines with the BLACK plastic valve covers have the new head bolts FYI.
Other than that there isn't really any problems.. stupid things here and there, but that's minor.
