Need guidance on rim upgrade?

I have OEM 18's at the moment.

I've been reading a lot of the threads about tires. The more I read, the more confused I seem to become about what size of rim to go to.

Trying to decide if I will go up to 19" or 20" rims. I figure 20" will affect the ride quality of the car. I will keep an set of OEM 18" rims for the winter, but the new rims are for my summer set up.

Has anyone gone from 19" to 20" rims? Can you let me know your thoughts.

I am looking at going to Vorsteiner VS-160 rims in gun metal.

So it seems the set up normally is:

Wheels Size : 19 or 20 inches
Wheel Widths : 8.5" Front, 10" Rear
Wheel Finish : Gunmetal Probably.
Bolt pattern : 5x112

Also, what tires sizes should I be looking at for my 2013 C63 PP Sedan? Trying to avoid having to get spacers if I can.

Thanks.

20s are too big IMO.

Go with 19s and the HR lowering kit. It will look mint and handle great.

You can run 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 tires, no rub.

Buy the ready to go set from Wheel Boutique:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...t-10-rear.html

As for offset, 20x8.5 +40mm & 20x10 +52mm will work perfect with 245/30f & 275/25r.

But I agree with Merc63, 19's will ride better on our C63.

To be honest, the difference in ride quality from the 18" to my 20" HRE's lowered with HRE springs was negligible IMO. You don't buy a C63 if you want ride quality - you buy a CTS-V or E63. The C63 is rough and sporty already... whats the difference in feeling the road a little bit more in going to 20"s? That's my take at least. Get the 20's - they will look much better once lowered.

^^ true, but u gotta drive more carefully cuz 25series low profile tires are not too potholes friendly. Lol

I got one. There was some miscommunication so the second one is en route. The roads might not be so bad if the state wasn't in the hole $16B.

Post pics once u mount them.

After all the mishaps, would u consider going down to 19's at some point? Or u think it would not make any difference?

I'm asking cuz I came this close to buying my HRE in 20's, but my common sense told me not cuz the roads in Canada are not the greatest (especially in spring time when they didn't patch up the potholes yet).

I would only consider going with 19s if I get a new set of wheels. I'm sure it would make a difference with fatter tires, but how much? I'm not sure.

I think you should stick with 19's. It's a good compromise between look and performance/ride quality. Depending on how much you put in your new shoes road conditions can be a factor as you dont want to through away 6k$ by running in a pothole for example.
As far as tire size you should be ok with 235 front and 275 back not lowered.

I am running a 20×9.5 in the rear with a 275/30/20 tire on stock suspension and have major rubbing issues. Do you think changing the tire to a the 295/25/20 would make enough of a difference? I am rubbing right where the back bumper meets the rear quarter panel. If I could get 3/8 of an inch more clearance I think I would be fine.

It’s been a long time haha but I’ve got a soft spot for guys with rubbing issues cuz I feel your pain. I wanted to try go as wide as I could since they didn’t make these cars to be able to put as much rubber in the rear as they should have. I’ve since sold those rims. But my rims started at 10.5” and eventually ended at 10 “ wide. I think the fact you have a 30 sidewall is contributing a lot to the problem. It also depends on your offset. There are a lot of guys running 20x 9.5 rims that have no rubbing issues I’m sure. I was one of the only people I seen that ran the 295/25/20’s as most people said they had issues. I had a lot of issues that I eventually worked out with ADV but by the end I had no issues except for the odd very big bump with the car loaded up with a bunch of people or stuff. I would think that if you went to a 28/25/20 that you would have no problems at all. Being that your offset is made for the c63. Dont hold me to it though it’s just a guess! Hope this helps!

Do you have any pics of your car set up on the 20s? The pic in your signature has a big Photobucket banner right over the wheels smh!
