How much should it cost to install H&R Springs
Just wondering what is involved, how long it will take, and what it should cost. I started inquiring with local shops in Toronto and already got a price of $800!!! (This seems unbelievably high!) ... I will see what others come up with that was just the first one.

The labor cost to install spring only slightly less than installing coil overs. I get the H&R coil overs instead. $500 labor is more like it with an alignment.

$800?!?!
If that includes a alignment + install it still would be too much. Typically I would say $300 for install. Coil-Overs, like Duane was saying, should be $500ish.

I'm confused as to why everyone is saying coilovers are more expensive to install. Lowering springs are more work for the fronts because you have to remove the stock springs from the struts and then put the lowering springs in. Coilovers are a complete swap, just the rear shocks have to be changed also but that's only two bolts per side....

Most of the time coilover install includes alignment + height adjustment. That is what usually takes the most time from the install.

Sajun, talk to Frank at Speedstar, they installed my H&R springs for like $200-300 (without an alignment)

On the rears since the spring and shock are independent there is much less work to remove just the rear spring.
We charge $300 for just a spring install, and $425 for a shock or coilover install. All coilover installs that we do come with 1 free adjustment.
I hope this helps.

Just a word of caution. The C63 has no rear camber adjustment. Lowering the car is going to add more chamber increasing the already rapid tire wear. Consider installing MB Arts adjustable upper rear control arms. ACG in San Diego is a dealer.

I overpaid for mine at 400$, but it was at a good friend dealership.. So they did a top notch service. I didn't even get an alignment yet as the car drives straight like on rails. And no camber wear after 6000km of driving. Lol

Thanks for all the info guys! I ended up going with Speedstar (local to the GTA) which is a shop that have down this install on quite a few C63s and other german cars. The cost is $250 for the install without alignment and they also will install my weistec oil separator in 1-2hrs of work. Im pretty happy with this price as it is more what I was expecting. Keep in mind I did get quotes from the top end shops in Toronto that deal with more exotic cars which is why $800 was a "Low" price for them. Nonetheless Im looking to book the car in for the changes in the coming weeks and will keep everyone posted with pictures and such. Thanks again for all the help!

The first reason why a coilover install on a C63 is more expensive then a spring install is because the rear suspension is independent. What this means is that the spring and shock are separate, and not together as one. So you will have extra labor to removed the shock when doing a coilover/shock install.
The next reason is that on spring install, you get what you get in terms of height, there is no adjustment required to set the height to the customers desired height level. Adjusting the coilovers to the customers requested height also takes labor.
These are two obvious reasons why a coilover install would cost more then a spring install.
In my book the price of a spring install is cheaper then a spring and/or shock install, which is cheaper then a coilover install.
Hope this makes things more clear for you.

Every time I've called a shop to ask about coilover adjustment, they quote at least half a day because they have to basically disassemble the entire suspension to even adjust it. Then, there is no formula for "1/4 turn = x mm of height" so you have to adjust it a bit, reassemble the suspension, lower the car, and after it settles, make sure it's at the desired height. If not, lather, rinse, and repeat.
