bought a new exhaust, topspeed pro-1
looking to get it put on this week before heading to the 1/4 track friday night
i'll try and get some sound clips of it also... but no plans on a dyno test...
i also plastidipped the tips... going to see how they hold up... i've read that people had success so we'll see... i had my stock tips powdercoated and they ended up chipping anyway...
this set up also has a hole to act as a x-pipe or h-pipe... whatever you call it... kind of like the stock resonator... can't wait to hear it

got it installed today and took a 20 minute drive local and highway... i took a short video before install and after install with someone revving it up while i was taking a video with my phone... i'll try and get those up soon... and tomorrow morning hopefully a cold start video...
it's hard for me to describe the sound but i'll try the best i can...
what i noticed right away was that it was a lot quieter... or tamer... the raspyness is pretty much all gone...
and i'm not sure if it's the different sound, but it seemed a little faster when accelerating...
before when WOT, the sound was very loud, obnoxious, raspy... now it's toned down and smoother...
down shifts have gotten a lot quieter as well...
there seems to be a little more backfire when letting go of the throttle from a high rpm...
install was easy... i just took it to a local body shop and when i told them it was just a bolt on exhaust, they said it would be easy... and they finished under an hour i think...
here are a few pics... i'll get more up later...
does anyone think i could have gained some power or lost some?

here is a quick before and after video
after some more seat time, there is definitely a deeper tone to it... like having more bass... this is noticeable mainly in the lower rpm range under 1500...
and the best part is... it's girlfriend approved
at first she was like, it's like a different car... it doesn't sound like your car... but then after driving around for a while, she started to like it more and more... she said it sounds a lot cleaner now and sounds much better than before

It will take 2 months for it to fully break n. drive it 1000-2000miles and the. Report back, it should get 15-20% louder. I think it sounds much better after, should keep getting better as it breaks in. One thing to watch out for is drone, as long as you don't get drone at cruising speeds, you should be good.

yeah i agree with ML63 AMG.. i believe as you use it daily, carbon will then nicely be deposited around the pipes and will provide a nicer tone to your exhaust.. congrats bluejae!

Nice sounds, but this is the only car I own which I will never touch the stock exhaust.. Just loving the stock sounds a lot.
On the other hand, I wouldn't mind buying ur Dads trunk.. Love ur paint scheme. Any more pics of it?

funny thing is... you complimented my trunk paint scheme back then too...
now i know who to look for if i ever want to sell the trunk... or if my trunk goes missing...

Any plans for wheels? The OEM 18's looks plain on your aggressive car.

thanks
i went to the local track last night and i still need to gather up some videos... i'll try and get more exhaust sound vids
and since i didn't do a before and after dyno to see if this exhaust gave me anything... here are some time comparisons so you can be the judge... of course there can be a lot more variables but it's the only data i have... i'm still on the same tires also...
best time before exhaust
11/30/12 DA 899
60' - 1.933
1/8 - 7.784@91.54
1/4 - 11.916@118.20
DA Corrected - 11.812@119.229
best time after exhaust
3/15/13 DA 1264
60' - 1.914
1/8 - 7.767@93.27
1/4 - 11.933@115.42
DA Corrected - 11.773@117.012
later in the night i recorded my new personal best using race gas. i was nearly out of the 93 i had in the tank and i needed to be able to drive out of there... so i went ahead and put 2 gallons of 104 and then ran down the track a few more times before heading home.
DA 1144
DA Corrected - 11.681@117.476
this was also the first time i took the pbox to the track... i haven't looked at all the data on the card yet... but i got this pic to compare... the 1/4 times were all pretty close to the slip from what i was able to observe... but idk what is with the trap speed... from what i can remember seeing, the pbox trap speed seemed to be more in line with what i'm used to at the track...
could the track be off? it's just hard to believe i pulled a 11.8 with a trap speed of only 116.... or is it the DA?
i did notice that all my slips in the right lane of the track didn't record the 1000 ft time... could that be what is throwing the trap speed off?
