Trying to get my window trim blacked out.
I was wondering if a few of you that have had your window trim wrapped could let me know what to expect from a vinyl wrap shop.
The guy that I just got a quote from has no intention of removing the trim to wrap it. He doesn't think he can get it back on if he takes it off (which worries me). I know that in previous posts on here others have had their trim removed to be blacked out.
I want to get this done right the first time. What are you thoughts?
Thanks,
Mark

VaclavSV,
Thanks for the info.
So, you went gloss black? I was thinking matte black. The window trim is all matte, but the vertical pillar by the glass is glossy. I was torn on which way to go. You are happy with the gloss?

Yep! I wouldnt go matte. Ive seen other cars with matte wrap and matte plastidip ... they liked the look of gloss better!

I went matte black. I felt it matched the rubber surrounding it much better than the gloss black of the pillars. They didn't take the trim off either and its a high quality job. Had a friend of mine wrap his G37 window trim in gloss black but he had alot more gloss black on his car so it matched well. Honestly, both look really good. It all depends on preference.

I've done mine with some 3M DiNoc matte black. It's a little bit of work and patience if you want to get it right. But yeah could save you a few $$$ as DIY.

Recommend taking trip pieces off as long as you don't break them and using vinyl, not plastidip. Plastidip fades and collects dust with time. I did matte and gloss black and matte looks better, but i have palladium silver.
I had my trim pieces done on my car and there were a little scratches under the trim pieces (can't see it) from their blades.

I went matte black as well. My guy didn't have to take of the trims. He just did it on spot cuz he's that good. But take notice on rock chips, eventually you will get them. Good luck!

Going to wrap mine in brushed black aluminum... When I find the time that is.
Trims should be left on when applied.
