For a first timer, should I just use my street tires?

I guess track season starts in the springtime.
Do you have any protection from rock chips installed, i.e. Ventureshield?
Should I consider doing that before I go to the track?

I had my entire front end done but removed it after some wear, I wasn't a fan of how the car looked. But I am probably not the best person to ask about that rick chips at a track. What I have planned on doing is just putting some tape on the rear fenders like I have seen others do. But to be honest I don't plan on being behind to many cars long enough for them to pick up rocks lol

I know a few cops that drive 911s and one who drives a GT3 RS...
It's from family money (wifes or his own) or inheritance
You never know nowadays.

Yes, you r street tires will be fine so long as they have decent and even tread on them. Just come out and learn the lines and get comfortable with the car at higher speeds. You will leave the track being twice as good of a driver as when you got there.

I work out in naperville 2 days per week...
Should I get any protection on my car from rock chips before I go to the track?

I can't find any useful information on the Autobahn club's website.... Do you have to be a member? Can you go and just do a couple of laps and call it a day? For some reason I don't think that it is that easy?

That story reminds me of the time I strangled my first wife to death. When the officers arrived they ask me why I killed her and I told them that she was a bittch, unbearable and I just couldn't take her anymore. Fortunately these guys were also married and they told me they understood how something like this could happen. I thought it was pretty cool when they decided to let me off with just a warning.
OP story was good too

Definitely post in here when you're heading out to the track. I'll join you if I can. I've been laying low lately in the forums, mainly because I've been super busy, but I'm excited for the drag strip to open.

I can vouch for this. Jim and his crew taught me how to drag race at Byron. Great group of guys.

You think there's anything I should be working on drive wise before hitting up the track?
By the way, I started a new thread for Chicagoland drivers interested in going to the track so feel free to throw your name on the list:

He probably said XLR, as in Cadillac XLR. There's no way any cop has an SLR, unless it's Miami Vice circa 2003!

100k a year plus overtime you could be owning an SLR in as few as 2.5 years... I saw in the newspaper they are going to be getting more raises over the next few years too... makes me want to be a cop here in Ontario wonder if they let you drive undercover C63's if you provide it

Why is it that men get out of more tickets than women?

Don't know about cops anywhere else but in my part of town we got a few guys with nice cars. Not dirty cops not liars.
Some are reserve officers that have very profitable businesses who just really like helping out and work 16hrs a month to keep thier certs active hence the nice cars. Shaquille was a Miami Beach Reserve and had nice cars.
It's not hard to make $110k with some overtime and court here in Miami Dade / Broward county. Granted you need to work but its doable.
We have attorneys in our dept that have practices and keep the certs active too
