Quote: Naperville cops are the worst...I have lived here pretty much my entire life. Want to know the irony in all of this, you got stopped 200 ft away from a race track that I bet you did not even know existed. Next time you cross that bridge over 88 look into the BP Oil campus, they have a test track, when we were young we used to sneak our motorcycles on it at night, it was awesome. It used to be a complete 1.75 mile oval but I heard they recently lopped it in half, now it is like a .75 mile straight away with a round skidpad at both ends.

Call Paul Moreschi (630)705-0050, he is out of Oakbrook, he specailizes in Dupage, mostly criminal, DUI and "bigger" traffic violations. I would say this falls under "bigger" since you were double the limit and the states attorney or judge can up it to reckless driving and an automatic 1yr suspension if he sees fit. The one thing you have going for you is everyone hates Naperville cops including most of the judges. Ever hear the story about the Naperville cop that gave another Naperville cop a DUI and he was just barely over the limit, or the naperville cop that had a pregnant judges wife handcuffed and her car impounded over expired tags? Both true stories. I am actually suprised the cop did not hit you with reckless on the spot and tow and impound your car, happens all the time. If he wanted to be real cool he could have wrote you for 69mph so you would not be double. Expect the States Attorney to try to up it to reckless on your court day, they are scum.

Paul has got me out of a ton of crap in the past, he is good, one of the best. Tell him Jim Stancel sent you.

Thank so much again, Jim.
I called this AM and spoke to his administrative assistant who was super on top of things and this guy sounds extremely legit.

Will speak with him within next few days and keep this thread updated to follow progress.

Hopefully, nobody else is in this predicament in the near future, but if they are maybe this thread can be a step by step guide of how to deal with these situations.

One very fortunate thing is that I have no other tickets in past 12 months...

Track season couldn't get here any faster at this point.

Quote: And before it does...

The OP is asking a question to help find a lawyer, he didn't ask to get lectured to by his father or mother. We are all guilty at one point or another of speeding and as the OP mentioned it was on the same stretch of empty road that he regularly on goes.

If you drive an amg and your telling me that you don't have a street or two that you regularly go on that you consider some what "safe" to hit it a little on then why do you have the car? I cant speak for everyone but I am sure not all of us hit up the track every weekend. We all know speeding isn't safe so leave the hypocritical comments to your self.

To the op what did he write you up for? Reckless driving?
You hit the nail on the head with all of your points.
Thanks for being a voice of reason.
I will see you at the track soon.

It can be up to a 1 year suspension here in IL too, double the limit can be prosecuted as reckless driving which is an automatic suspension. The cop did not write it up that way so from one point of view the cop was being cool, but if he wanted to be really cool he could have wrote him up for something under 70 mph. States attorney can figt for suspension but judge probably will not go that route since OP said he has had no other violations in the last 12 months, there was no racing involved, it was not in a residential or school zone. The attorney will get it down to probably a $180 fine and court supervision so it will not even be on his record. I have been down this same road many many times with a worse driving record and for going much faster.

The court traffic court system is a big circle jerk, they want you to walk in with an attorney, you are paying the attorney and that attorney takes the judge golfing, donates money to the bar association....it is called greasing the wheels.

funny you say that...I recall back when I was younger I hired a attorney on the spot once I got to the court house in downtown Chicago at the Thompson Center. I was young and naive and asked the lawyer what shall I say if they ask me etc etc. And the lawyer tells me to not say a word and he will do all of the talking. Once they called my name up there they talked about my case for literally less than a minute and went on talking about how great the weather was and golfing.

Your post just made those memories came back

At 44 yrs old I've toned down my speeds, but I do recall pegging my high school cars 160mph speedo on a farm road with circa 1960's suspension brakes........... Youngsters do goofy things....., probably good I did not have an Amg back then.

Good luck with your deal. Sounds like you are good hands.

Take it to the track for some safe fun )

FACT. The (good) attorneys know all the judges and DA's, and few parties involved are truly interested in restorative justice/judgements and instead it's become an automated process of who can and can't get off based on precedent, payment, and relationships. Ever taken an online traffic course? There is no surprise that a drop down pops up that asks "please select your attorney" - its a pre negotiated "out" that has kickbacks written all over it. Lawyer qualifies you as a candidate, you think you got off, and everyone gets paid when their assistant did literally 4 minutes of work and no effort. Just an example.

My guess, assuming this lawyer is as Cart says he his, you get no reckless, and speeding reduced to a standard moving violation that carries a fine and court costs, maybe a point or two max.

I swear by lawyers for traffic violations for this reason....it's all a scam, just pay up and move on with your freedom
