Drive mode D1 vs M
When u are stopped in S mode and hit left paddle it goes to D1 and you manually shift. What's the difference between that and regular M?
I have a 2009 c63
Thanks!

The Sx and Cx(S1,C1 etc.) modes shift into the next gear precisely at redline. So if you are in S1, you will shift to the second gear at redline. I think in the old cars with D1,D3, etc, you stayed within 1 and that gear as CoolBDPhenom mentioned above.

That is not correct. See below.
Yes, you will hit the rev limiter in M, which will end up killing your throttle for a few moments. In some cars (like my Lotus), the rev limiter bounces at the redline so it keeps you going, but in our cars, the throttle is totally killed for what seems like an eternity. Not a very pleasant feeling as it throws you forward. Also, because of the laggy shift response, it is hard to shift at redline in M as you have to take the lag into account and shift before you reach redline. Some practice is needed to get the shifts right.

I drive in S+ all the time in winter and use the S+[#] Mode to shift. What the mode lets you do is shift as if youre in manual mode but it will shift for you around the same time S+ would normally shift unless you grab the paddles. From my experience the shift points between S+[#] and M are different.

huh?? I'm pretty sure if you are in S5 or c5, it will use gears 1-5 normally it just wont shift above 5. Theres no way it will rev all the way to redline even in part throttle...at least thats how it is in my 2012. S+ is supposed to shift at redline all the time if you floor it or drive aggressive, but under light throttle it still shifts normally (I dont use s+ much but I've def seen it shift at like 3-4k)
The difference between S and C is the duration of the shifts and how aggressively the upshifts happen. S shifts are faster than C shifts, and S upshifts later than C. Also, if you are not in C1 (i.e. you're in C2+ or regular C mode), you will start in the 2nd gear from a stop.
