Sport Mode

Anyone else ever red line or get stuck in a gear for a few quick seconds when hitting the gas hard? It's happened to me three times in the past two days. Not to sure if it's bad and can damage anything and not to sure if I should be concerned and take it in. Any help would be great. Thanks.

im new to the platform but i havent particularly had the issue myself. It wouldnt hurt the car as it will prevent redlining into parameters capable of damaging the vehicle at least. Id like to see a video of it occuring if possible... Like the footage of the rpm gauge as it occurs.

Has this happen other times as well? The ECU is constantly adapting to your driving style, so if it's one of those rare times you're putting the pedal to the floor it may be just that the ECU is trying to adapt to the sudden surge in acceleration.

"sport mode" is for sporty driving. Think about where the power band is in your car. Holding the higher RPMs allows for the driver to have access to more power upon request. If you have just recently driven "with spirit" the car assumes that you want to continue it that fashion, and holding the RPMs would allow that. This should be a perfectly normal function for your vehicle in sport mode. As long as it's not doing it in comfort mode, all is bueno

Are we talking about bouncing off the rev limiter between shifts a couple times? That surely can't be normal and/or good?

Most adaptive transmissions will hold high revs if you blip the throttle whilst driving. It is normal.

i think he's refering to flooring it - the car downshifts to say 4krpm then you let off the gas or stop accelerating hard. It hangs in that gear holding the revs up high even though your not under high load. This is normal because it thinks your going to punch it again and doesnt want to have to cause extra delay in needing to down shift again. just manually tap the paddle or shifter or hold them down and it will let the trans know your done hammering on it and its ok to upshift. Its totally normal. I like the engine braking power and wish it would hang the gear longer.

ohhhh. well i imagine this is a main reason FOR sport, holding the gear in the higher rpm . i thought he was talking about it bouncing off the rev limiter between shifts and i'm like that can't be normal or good for the car. lol

Is it just me or does anybody else think the C63 should come with pretty clear instructions as to what to do for each set of circumstances? Here is a bunch of owners and everybody has an opinion but they differ enormously. This is customer service at its worse.
