Yup -
Cheesesteaks - Mama's Pizzeria on Belmont is hands down #1. I know this is a point of contention, but I've eaten dozens of different steaks in Philly and thats the one! Chicken cheesesteak (and buffalo chkn) are also off the hook. Tony Luke's is another good one (but different style than Mama's) as well as what used to be called *****'s.
Shopping - King of Prussia is a great mall if thats what you're into.
Casinos - they are pretty lame, but South Philly (Philadelphia Park maybe I dont remember the name) is one, down where the street races used to be. Definitely not a nice Casino, but you can gamble if thats your thing.
Family fun - Arnold's Go Karts. Fast, fun, a little pricey, but a blast. There is (or used to be) a Dave & Busters down near the Casino as well.
Tourism - of course, tons to see downtown.
Food - LOTS of great food. My favorite pizza is in Philly (Lorenzo's) not sure if they reopened or not but South St would be a cool place to hit for the family too. If its a nice day, great place to check out some neat indie shops. Viet Huong on Washington Ave has my favorite Vietnamese food around. Morning Glory down near South st is awesome for breakfast. Many options for a good dinner - Morimoto has a spot downtown, Continental was a fave of mine, Bistro Romano, etc.
Have fun!

I am from around there, but right now I go to school about 3 hrs away.
+1 for tony lukes!
King of Prussia is a great mall. Theres also outlets near by called philadelphia premium outlets which is okay, but not amazing (depending on what brands, they dont have top brands). Downtown, rittenhouse square is not bad for food and shopping
Food: You have to try Morimoto! its awesome. Or if you cant get a table there, then go to Zama also good Japanese food. Ill Pitore is also great italian food. Brunch at Day by Day is really good but a long line if you dont go early. I know a bunch restaurants there so if you need more recommendation feel free to ask haha.
Family fun, not sure but theres always these sight seeing things around town like rory said.

thanks for the info guys.
we just got back from philly and had a great time. I was pretty busy / hammered for most of the weekend but managed to check out king of prussia (cost me too much coin) and the philly outlet (also cost me too much coin). they were gearing up for memorial day so some of the discounts were pretty steep.
wasnt able to stop by morimoto (lack of time) but will definitely have to check it out when i return in the future
btw, the drive to philly was really nice. very scenic and lots of winding roads. many times I wished I brought the C63 with me instead as it would've been a blast to drive.
and everytime I drive semi local, there are streets theat go from 55 to 30 almost instantly. that is a pretty steep difference in speeds, saw many cars get caught.
