Great Deal on a SL65 AMG V12 BI-TURBO
If anyone is interested in upgrading from their C63, here is the perfect opportunity to get into a low-mileage 1-owner SL65 AMG. It belongs to my boss, Bill Walters (yes, the Bill Walters).

Mercedes doesn't hold it value. (I am not talking of one offs)
Mercedes AMG are never known to hold their value (Not Black series)
Mercedes AMG 65 variants are some of the fastest depreciating vehicles.
I have seen a few 07 SL65's for sale in California for about 60-65k at dealers. Asking price.
Go down to 06 and they'll be in mid 50s.
05s for 40s.
It depreciates like a rock, mainly because, people are worried that they are VERY expensive to fix, if one of the pretty much all standard options break down. or when the 65 AMG motor needs service.,

I actually priced the one above and it is exactly at private party value. I have seen people get these for less even then private party for the reason you exactly said. People are afraid to buy a 6-7 year old car and have to fix it. Try and guess something as simple as air condition seats what they cost to fix. It is literally over 1,200 job from a non-dealer shop.

The reason for selling is obvious: It's near the end of the the maximum possible factory warranty period. The buyer better have a deep pocket.
By the way, I wonder if that's his house. Nice.

The reason for selling it is because he just bought a brand new one for his house in Vegas. We can extend the warranty another 2 years at cost.

Lets see, Out of the C/E/S/CLS/G/GL/ML/SLK/SL/SLS half o tehm actually start above 100k.
S class crosses 100k mark with any reasonable option
S600 / S63/ S65 cross 150k and touch 220k
CL starts above 115k
CL600/Cl63/CL65 touch 220k
SL Starts at above 105k
SL 600/ SL63/SL65 cross 200k easily
G starts at above 115k
G63 is easily 150k
SLS starts at above 200k
Thats leaves us with the
E - which in AMG variant is 100k easily
CLS - which in AMG is easily way beyond 100k
C - which in Black series is close to 130k atleast
GL - which in 550 form is 100k and GL63 is way beyond 100k
I can go on and on..

2007 CLS 63 030 package 2011 C63 1997 Dodge Viper GTS
I'm not comparing the two AMG's I have a 07 CLS63 with 030 package. The window sticker was 114K her only has 80K miles I was only offered 22K on a trade in. I was shocked.

Also, just because they offered you 22k, doesn't mean it's worth 22k. They'll "try" to refurbish it to new condition and try selling for 30k. Many factors attribute to low trade in price.
6 yr old car.
Expensive parts since its a MB
Expensive engine and running parts since its an AMG
80k miles - people in the US buy miles - they pay for low mileage cars.
Old - first generation car.
Warranty? Probably no warranty.
All that adds up. I am surprised they offered you 22k.

I have a few friends who work for various dealers (1 is a manager for an Infiniti Dealer). Dealers who take in high mileage vehicles in trade, tend to send anything with 60k or more miles off to auction or wholesale. Typically a car with that much mileage is worth more in parts then as an entire vehicle. Few exceptions are rare vehicle types, those they will try to sell, but typically an AMG is not considered rare enough.
