Drag Radials=best mod so far

I have a '10 C63 with an OE tune, ROW air box tops and, AFE filters. The tune is amazing but it just made traction impossible. I bought the car used as a CPO from a Mercedes dealer. They had installed a new set of BS tires, Yokohama avid envigor, which I hated from day one, they were noisy and traction was terrible. With traction control off, even on the best roads it was out of control through 1st and 2nd gear everytime and occassionally it would hit 3rd and continue to spin the tires.

Last week I had a set of Nitto 555R tires (285-35-18) installed and the difference is amazing. I can foot brake the car up to about 1200rpm on the road with full tire pressure and it just hooks and goes. It is amazing! I cant wait to go to the drag strip.

If you are on the fence about drag radials you need to get them!

Or PSS for a daily driving great street tire. Idk if I would run drag radials everyday especially in the rain. But no doubt they would be a hell of a lot of fun on nice dry days

ford svt's, and C63!!!
I just got the same exact ones, and it'll never wear street tires again. 450hp is useless without traction! Soon I'll be testing her out in the eighth mile.

I had the 555's on my Lightning, didn't have the ***** or stupidity to run 555r's daily. I hear they get pretty hairy on the highway when it's wet, but still better than most other dr's in the rain. Which isn't saying much. I hear they also wear REAL fast, so I can't imagine how short lived they'll be on a c63, will be interesting to see.

I dont drive my car much, I basically never drive it in the rain, however I did get caught in a few showers yesterday, the tires are new but they were no problem in the rain as long as you drive with sense. I ran these on my daily driven 03 Cobra for years, I only had one incident where it was scary in the rain and that was on a severely worn set in a terrible rain storm.

It's possible to run 285's in the rear? Are you using spacers?

I think the nitto's are more narrow than most 285's. I am running them with no spacer on stock wheels and ride height. They fit fine with no rubbing, however the side walls do look a little tall compared to the stock tires.

nice! i had 2 03 cobras. what's like c63 like compared to them? they're pretty beastly on the highway but how would it compare on the street from stop light to stop light?

and i remember correctly, the issue with the 555r was hydroplaning at speed more than just wet traction.

My 03 Cobra was just over 500 RWHP, it would run 11.50's at 120 pretty consistently. I put nitrous on it for a while and it was a monster, but I never got a chance to run it on the track with the nitrous.

I remember the car being really fast and feeling violent under acceleration, but I was doing a lot of work to make it do so, dumping the clutch, shifting gears... The C63 is much more refined feeling and really easy to drive, it is a much smoother, but acceleration is still rapid. My C63 has a tune, filters, ROW air box tops and drag radials now, I would guess it would run 11.80's-11.90's,it is not as fast as the cobra was but if you didnt hit the gears right, I think the C63 would pass by. I was amazed at how the C63 just doesnt stop pulling up top, I have had mine over 150 and it was impressive, I think from a 100 mph roll the c63 would be a tight race with the cobra. I miss the speed from the cobra and how cheap upgrades were but I want go back to a Mustang, there is just something about having a 4 door luxury sedan that is faster that most everything on the road. When the warranty is up on the C63 I will get an E63 with the M157 engine.

Just remember....if you have them as your daily tires, they won't last too long...you'll be replacing them alot more frequently
