Hello everybody,
after reading a couple months on this forum I finally registered to get help regarding a problem I’m having right now.
I recently bought new set of wheel consisting:
Rims: Stance SC-6ix (8.5x19 ET45 in the front, 9.5x19 ET48 in the rear) Pics: http://www.stancewheels.com/wheels/stance-vip/sc6ix-slate-grey
Tires: Hankook V12 (235/35/19 in the front and 265/30/19 in the rear)
The problem is, that due to the design of the rim, the spokes do currently not the brake calipers. It’s a matter of 1-2mm! When I’m turning the wheel mounted on the car, the rim is literally shaving off the of the caliper.
I got three options now:
1. Sending the wheels back. Problem: They look awesome and I would really like to keep them
2. Mounting 3mm or 5mm spacer without centration provided by wheelfire where I bought the rims. Problem: It might rub now because of the offset plus vibrate because of the missing centration.
3. Getting custom spacers made by http://www.motorsport-tech.com that will be Hub Centric to Vehicle and Wheel Centric to Wheel. Problem: Is it technically possible to mount a 3mm or 5mm spacer with centration? I thought the spacer would need to be at least as thick as the centration of the hub is long (which is probably 8-10mm) and then you can go from there on with the centration of the spacer. Additionally, would it rub?
What do you guys think? I’m happy for any help.

yes, just go for spacers.
I recently saw a mamber's c63 with stance wheels as well and his wheels cleared his calipers by like 1mm haha... close call but it worked lolz

Message V33DUB, he has those wheels with spacers, he can tell you how well they work out.

Thanks for the info, I just sent him a PM/E-mail. I hope he responds.Originally Posted by jvanbrecht

My first thought was spacer as well, but I would be so annoyed by any sort of vibrations or rubbing issues due to the changed offset now, which was anyways borderline…

slap on 3mm spacers and call it a day. You won't need new bolts and there will still be plenty of hub for your wheels to mate to.

The specs on mine are 19x8.5 +32 front and 19x9.5 +48 rear.
Front : We had to buff a few mils at the top and bottom of the caliper to make clearance between the caliper and the inner lip of the wheel.
Rear : We put a 3mm universal spacer to make some room between the caliper and the the spoke of the wheel. Take your time to center it the best you can so it won't cause vibration. Final offset is +45 so you might experience a little bit of rubbing depending on your tire size and suspension setup.

Thanks for your response V33DUB.
For clarification, you actually shaved off a couple mm of the front calipers, so you had so repaint them?
I don’t know if that would work for me as well, as my spokes with ET45 are probably even closer to the calipers than yours with ET32 (more concave design).
I will probably have to go with spacers.
Do you have any rubbing issues or vibrations right now?
And do you remember how much or if there was enough centration left on the hub, after putting the 3mm spacer on there?

No need to repaint the calipers because you can't really see the area we shaved once the wheels are installed. The red circles on the picture below indicate where we shaved off some material.

With the ET45 up front you're probably right about getting spacers to make clearance between the caliper and the spoke. You might not experience the inteference I had between the caliper and the inner lip though.
No vibration with the 3mm spacers, there's enough hub left to center the wheels properly. The only issue I have is the rear wheels that are rubbing on big bumps at highway speed. 9.5 ET45 with 265s is a tight fitment on H&R springs but I can live with it. Especially after daily driving this

We have the H&R 3mm hubcentic spacers in stock... this way you wont have to worry about centering them for balance..
Let me know and we can overnight them to you tomorrow so you can have the wheels for the weekend..

I wanted to give everyone a short update on the issue.
I tried to make them fit with the 3mm spacers but even with those there was not enough clearance between the spoke and the front of the brake caliper.
Additionally I recognized now also the problem V33DUB mentioned above (which I first didn’t), that the inner wall/lip of the rim is rubbing against the edges of the brake caliper.
As I don’t want to shave of a couple mm of the caliper, use spacers and then still have to risk vibrations and/or tire rubbing issues I’m going to return the wheels tomorrow.
It’s too bad as they would have looked awesome, see V33DUB’s car.

This really blows, I love the look of these wheels and very sorry to hear that you can't make it work, I guess it's a good thing I didn't get them afterall.
I was looking at my wheels vs. caliper clearance and there seems to be a lot of space in every direction for clearance.
It seems to be a relatively simple machine adjustment for the manufacturer, too bad they haven't stepped up and made the change.
