2008 C63 Lifter Issues
After some investigation on the forums, It sounds like I could have the lifter issue that's common in these engines.
I took C63 to the dealer immediately. After sharing the video I took over the weekend, (you-tube link below,) the service department also thinks there is a lifter issue. Although, for some reason the shop can't yet reproduce the sound. They're hoping to reproduce the sound to help isolate the issue more exactly.
I've got an extended CPO, so it's covered under warranty.
Does anyone have any experience in this area? What can I expect, how long to order parts, time to repair? Should the lifters and camshafts be replaced with a new set of parts automatically?
Thanks!

Let it warm up slowly... take it for a drive around the block.
The service department still has not been able to replicate the sound in my video. However they have been talking to MB engineers. Apparently one of the engineers says there is no problem, another feels something should be repaired. So, I'll wait for another update tomorrow.

The service shop replaced the following:
32 (156-050-02-25) valve tappets, 1 (156-050-36-47) camshaft adj.
Everything sounds great, seems back to normal.

It's been very cold the last few weeks, and I haven't driven the car much, it's been sitting in the cold. When they gave me back the car it sounded like this. I didn't hand it over sounding like this.
You guys say this possibly will fix itself? I was told if I don't fix it, it will result in complete engine failure.
Advice?
Why was your car brought in the dealership? Was the ticking sound there before dropping it?
I guess you are out of extended warranty.
edit: just read the thread. So how come a car coming in for springs gets returned with engine issue? You should have told them something happened while the car was with them.

I asked them the same thing. How does it get dropped off for springs, and come back with near catastrophic engine failure, according to them.
Waiting to hear back from them.

86k on motor.

The service advisor told me that the faults were due to it being time to replace the spark plugs.
Any validity in the fault misfires being related?
Did you notice anything about misfire before dropping the car for springs work?
I just had the oil changed at the dealership 2 weeks prior when the car was in because it broke a serpentine belt. After the belt broke, I immediately turned the car off, so there is no chance that it overheated.
Thanks for the help.
