Just like your windshield, apparently State Farm will cover our fog lights as well.
I place a call/email to my agent to make a claim.
Has anyone else heard of this?
I'll let you know how it goes.
Stealer wants $680 to replace.

So far so good.....
Here's the reply from State Farm....
"Thank you Eric.
I am submitting a claim and the adjusters will be calling you.
If you have any questions or concerns let me know.
If anything comes up I will call you."
I'll keep you posted.

I received a call from the adjuster with the claim number:-)
The adjuster asked me if I had a shop in mind. I told him I was taking it to the dealer. Then the adjuster said, "they are going to charge a lot for labor." I said, "yeah, so. That's why I have insurance." Tehehehehe! Anyway, i gave the claim number to MB and they are setting up an appt. This couldn't have been easier. I hate to admit it but my fog lights have been broken since Year 1. I'm driving a 2009. Ouch.
I've had 3 windshields replaced since I bought the car.
I'm sure i'll have more than 2 fog lamps replaced as well.
Cheers,
Hawth

U dont need to pay ur deductibles? I would be afraid they raise the premium the following year.. But this claim should be classified as "comprehensive".

It's actually not that hard to do. I just had mine taken apart today to troubleshoot an issue with the HIDs. But the room you have to work in is small. Just order the new housing from parts.com.
Should be in and out in 30 minutes.

Why is this a new low? Looks like they helped him out. If the job goes through insurance the dealer will make less money than if they charged him for it.

I was asking OP, but he didn't answer that. If there is deductible involved, I would think the premium would go up the following year.
If no deductibles, it means u r not at fault therefore it should be classified as "comprehensive claim"

Because I've never known an insurance to pay for repair unless you pay the deductible if it is your fault or if the party responsible wasn't there or did not have enough coverage.

Comprehensive insurance is different than collison insurance. If you have comprehensive insurance with no out of pocket deductible than what the OP is saying is true. If so then he will not suffer a increase in premiums
Everyone's policy is different. it pays to know whats in your policy. This is why i carry more than the 10K/20K minimum on my car and everyone else should too.

Thank you for clarifying that.

Actually, most insurance companies (for people with full comprehensive coverage) will replace or repair a front windshield once every year (or 2, I forget) for free. No deductible, and no premium increase.
Now lights are different story, I have no knowledge on that, but would be nice if they did.

As previously stated you are are making a blanket statement, possibly based on your personal experience, but with no real world proof: i.e. list of companies, locations, etc.

Neither Geico nor Allstate will replace a windshield or fogs without a deductible, that's a fact from experience. Maybe this varies from state to state, but FYI.
Not trying to be a grey cloud here, that's why I asked are you sure you won't pay the deductible. That's what it comes down to. You can call and file a claim all day long,of course the will document the case....then you pay the deductible when its fixed. That's how it works. Them creating a claim etc does not = no deductible. This can be solved simply, just ask them and get it in writing...deductible or no?

I think insurance companies make exceptions in the case of a repairable windshield where they do not consider deductible and just pay for the repair. This is not cause they are awesome! This is to prevent the very repairable windshield from becoming irreparable and despite the deductible, their pay out would be greater for a replacement.
I know that based on my good and long relationship with my agent, she may consider courtesies that are not available to all customers. Happens all the time and is called doing business! However, I cannot make the assumption that those courtesies are standard policy. In fact I may keep it to myself to prevent a flood of similar claims and the notion of "well, you guys did it for such and such, why not for me..."
