C63 or Infiniti FX50S
Guys/Gals, hope you're all well! Newbie here, well...actually joined back in 2011!!
I'm living in Manchester, England, currently drives a C250CDI estate.
Looking to change my car around August/Sept, the question is I love the C63AMG, the exhaust note alone is worth the money!! But I also love the FX50S, more practical, as well as 4WD, so I don't need extra expense of winter tyres for the Merc!
I understand both cars has similar fuel consumptions, think overall the FX might be slightly cheaper to run??!!
I am asking you guys here for your opinions, because you're more familiar with the Infiniti than those in the UK. ( I will pose the same question in the UK MB forum later)
I'll probably get some biased views, but I guess i am kind of waiting for you lot to talk me into it, LOL
Any advise would be much appreciated
Kin

The FX will be cheaper to own. But don't for a minute think that because it has all wheel drive, that it would be good in winter. They are performance tires, and in general, suck in winter (I used to own an FX35, 2009 MY). Unless you get All Season (which did not come stock on the one my wife bought), you will still slide around in any Snow or Ice. Regular rain you will be fine with though.
Also, the all wheel drive is kinda sucks, if you get stuck in snow, it won't help you.
Otherwise, it is an awesome car, but you are also comparing apples to Oranges.

C63 AMG
Wow I never thought I would see this cause I went through the same thing. Had a 2010 G37xS that I loved but wanted something different and those were my same choices. In owning my G it was an outstanding reliable car and the warranty is longer iirc and extended cheaper vs the c63. The question that solved it for me was, was their another suv in the house? My wife just got a new platinum pathfinder (amazing for the money FYI) so we had an suv and felt like the c63 met my wants for a performance vehicle.
All in all you cannot compare the two and just depends on if it fits needs (fx50) or more wants (c63).

I had an FX35 back in 2005. As others have said, you cannot compare the two. If I were to have only one vehicle, I'd probably lean more towards the SUV.

Cheers! I know I am comparing two very different cars here..
I guess I really like the styling of the FX and its extremely rare in the UK, I don't expect the FX to plough the field, but I think the occasional snow would have the Merc stranded.
Very difficult to decide!!

C63 AMG
The part of the us I live in both are extremely rare. Actually have never seen either before in about 4 years. Question: do you enjoy modding your car? This is something that also played into my decision in that there is practically nothing for the fx50 including exterior, interior, etc.
Good luck but also be aware that infiniti is changing their nomenclature soon. I think the fx50 will soon be a QX70 so I wonder if this will effect value...

In all honesty, if I decided on FX, think the only mod, I would do is change the exhaust, so it would sound a bit more aggressive!!
Re QX70, just googled it, it looked exactly the same as FX50, or have I miss something?

Should be the same vehicle fx50 vs qx70, just wonder how naming can effect value if purchased new when it does change. Just food for thought, that's all
In regards to it being hideous, that's why I love it. I think unique is a better term because it is polarizing. There aren't to many people that are on the fence looks wise, which is part of the appeal. Personally I love it because there is nothing else like it.

I seem to get more reasonable constructive comments here

Drive both of them if you can and that should help you make your decision.
I would also check on insurance rates, both could be significantly different.
I am not bashing England but it rains a lot there. If you are not a power junkie and live with the power of the Infiniti, it would make the FX a much safer vehicle most of the time.
I am not sure how much stuff you need to carry but the Benz is not bad. You can lower the back seats for long items and it has decent cargo.
Good luck with your search.

i had the exact same dilemma with the OP three weeks ago lol.
I ended up choosing the C63 cuz its much faster than the FX50.
I think both of these two cars are low-key comparing to cars like E92 M3. The FX50 looks almost the same as the FX35 besides the wheels.
I owned a G37 coupe in the past and I feel like the Infiniti's interior is better than the C63(except for the front seats.) But my G37 had many minor problems such as the window leaks and weak oem battery(my friend's fx35 has the same problem with the battery). So these minor issues with Infiniti's cars from my experiences were also a factor that let me decide to go with the C63.
After owning the C63 for three weeks I am pretty satisfied with the car. The only downside was that the maintenance costs at the MB dealers are almost twice as high as the Infiniti dealers.

This has to be the one of the most ridiculous questions ever asked. One is a (fugly) SUV, the other a high-performance sports sedan. While you're at it, why aren't you considering a hot air balloon as a third option?
I can certainly understand asking for opinions on, say, an M3 vs. a C63 or an FX40 vs. an ML, but these two? You're comparing apples to screwdrivers. Somebody please end this now.

Different cars for different needs. I love the C63, but the FX is an awesome crossover/SUV and until more recently was quite unique on the sporty side of the SUV spectrum.

Checked out the insurance already, the FX half the cost.
I don't carry much except grocers from supermarket, so long it has decent room for the family.
In Uk, the weather is pretty abysmal, especially Manchester(it has a nickname"Rainy City", go figure), unlike you lucky US guys over there!
My head says FX, but my heart says AMG.
Hard decision....

"Based on the Infiniti FX50 S, the Vettel edition has had the output from its 5.0-liter V8 upped to from 390 horsepower to 414 for a 5.6-second sprint to 60 and a 186 mph top speed. The suspension is said to have been set up by the reigning two-time world champion himself, with the carbon fiber aero kit developed by his Red Bull Racing team.
Only 200 examples will be produced, with 50 earmarked for continental Europe, and most of the rest likely heading to the Middle East. The price for such a high-end performance crossover? 120,000 euros, or about $155,000 in American greenbacks (if it were actually offered here). "

You answered your own question.
If it is not a stupid financial choice, i.e. you can afford it, then your heart should win the battle otherwise every time you see a C63 in your FX, you will think "Damn, I could be driving this car"

I will be test driving the FX later this week! Already driven C63AMG on a number of occasions, because one of my friends has one! Just can't get over the exhaust note from the Merc!, Its awesome!!
