Hits the limiter in 1st gear

Sometimes when I go from 0-xx the car hits the limiter in 1st gear before changing to 2nd, and this is in sport mode on a 2010 pp, anyone know why this happens ?

Do you have an ECU tune?

ECU tuning has nothing to do with the trans fellas, you'll need a TCU tune which entails removing the valve body from the trans.

Is a TCU tune necessary or is there a problem with the transmission ?

A mechanic said that it might help to chance the trans filter and oil ?

Couple things can make that happen.
1.Your spinning.
Or
2. Car is not adapted to the driving habits WOT runs from 0. (99% of time its this)

When this happened to me I was the track but after 8-10 passes it adapted and was fine after.

I wouldn't say the trans is having a problem, it's doing what it is supposed to do and how it was set up, the factory shift points just plain suck for the type of driving that many of us may do.

When I hit the "shift" button, I want it to shift right then and there, not 2 seconds later, this is the reason my valve body is being removed and taken to EC so they can flash the TCU.

Or, you can figure out the delay and shift early to account for said delay.

OP, how much did you drive after the tune?

I think mthis has your answer. I definately find that if I am spinning at the shift in S mode it seems to hit the rev limiter and drops rpm before allowing the shift. I think it is just the trans protecting itself and cutting power before allowing the trans to shift. My car will still shift but it bogs out before it does.

I ran and still do have the same issue in 1st gear manual mode to 2nd, sometimes 2nd to 3rd. ESP does not flash so wheel spin not there. If I am in sport mode no issues. I am using paddles mostly and till think I have an issue as signal speed not that good. Gear shifter works better but bounces off ev limiter at times. I am running r888 and still have the issue. Weistec seems to think its tune or paddle modules. Not quite sure.

id say normal in manual mode - learn to shift it earlier its not an f1 gear box or dual clutch. yours is still a torque converter car, even with the mcc its not going to shift lightning fast. You bumper the power up and it revs up alot quicker. In sport mode it shouldnt be doing that though. same thing happened to my slk55 in manual mode when i put a tune on it and thats only good for 20whp- had to shift 1500rpm before redline in manual mode or itd bang off the rev limiter and slow the car down horribly.

Why not just raise the rev limiter through the ECU? Thats what was happening to my E55 when I was at the track, it started to adapt as the day progressed. It was reving through the rpm range to fast, and would hit the limiter before the upshift.

I raised the limiter and problem solved.
