Final Dyno Results

The atmospheric conditions were pretty close to the last time I was on the dyno exactly a month ago. I think at that time, the temp was floating around the mid-70s and the humidity was also like 71%. Today's stats were in the upper-70s and about 66% humidity.

Here are the results. I actually did several runs a month ago and a few more today, so don't get thrown off by the naming of the runs.

Run 1: Velos tune
Run 2: Powerchip tune
Run 3: Stock file

Setup - this is a Mustang Dyno and there is a huge fan pumping in air from the outside, plus two more fans directing that air to the intake. There were at least 3 runs on each file so we just took the median number to try to eliminate any bias.

The best results showed about a 13whp+ gain and 18wtq+ gain over the Powerchip tune.

Just for kicks, I also had a dB meter on my phone which measured a max of 102dB during the runs

so you changed to a different tune and picked up 13/18?

Not too bad but, at what cost?

PM me if you want the actual $ amt, but it was the discounted cost of the tune plus a handheld.

In case it isn't obvious, I should point out that the solid line is run 1 (Velos), the tight dotted line is run 2 (Powerchip), and the wide dotted line is run 3 (stock).

I thought the wheel gains would be higher. And this is with headers?

Yeah, me too. This is with race headers and a full exhaust.

Maybe bc of the headers and exhaust, the room for gains from the tune is not as great? What's your total wheel gain over bone stock?

10 hp gain with the velos tune is sort of nuts, isn't it?

Over my AP system and the stock ECU file, about 50-ish? I never had a stock exhaust to compare.

I made 347whp bone stock on a mustang dyno. Those are tough dynos!

Wait I just did 440/408 on a mustang last weekend and I don't even have headers. How can that be

I guess this is why 1/4 mi traps are the real judge

Could be the calibration and atmospheric conditions.

Numbers look a tad low as others have mentioned but real test is against another car. I did 421whp on dynojet in similar conditions (higher reading than mustang of course) with a tune.

I'll have to do some runs with the local guys. BO Knows has a Eurocharged tune with Akropovic exhaust and Anthony McKay has a stock P31 car. We've done runs before but that was the night my CEL came on and started blinking.

I'm not sure. But that's what I found on a quick search for our cars. I know, the math is still low once you add in the lost hp.

25% is usually for AWD cars... for us should be around 18%.

I saw a headers thread where a tune company did the math on a Dyno Jet and estimated a 25% loss.

Supporting mods, Headers, full exhaust, intake filters, tune you SHOULD see in the area of 485whp+-. Give or take obviously. Not sure on what dyno though.

Can't remember, have to ask. I know folks here say 5th works best.

How much of an impact would that have?

pretty sure mine was done in 4th. from what i recall reading before, 4th will read a bit higher than 5th but hardly a huge difference

looks about right. I think you guys are overlooking how much lower mustangs read. You cant modify and trick the inputs. What you see is what you get. Non of this honda fan boy nonsense making 700whp on pump gas with 1.8L lol. my weistec stage 2 does 538hp/534tq on mustang. meanwhile you hear about tune only 63's making 480whp.
