Opinions Wanted - Black out

I'm going to try blacking out my black C63 with plasti dip. Should I black out the 6.3L on the side or leave it chrome. It's kind of a badge of honor on MB cars...

Thoughts?

lol good quote. I was thinking of carbon fibering my whole car's trims, grille, and such, but I kinda like the chrome. Wife loves it though. She said it isn't a Mercedes without the chrome. So I said k.

I personally like leaving the "6.3" as an insignia to the car.

I would leave the 6.3 on the side alone and do everything else. My car is blacked out as far as grill, foglight housings, Trunk trim, dark tint, wheels. But, I left the rear c63/emblem/AMG alone as well as the 6.3 side markers alone.

I've contemplated this myself many times, but, I'm trading in my c63 in a couple weeks anyway so I'm leaving it alone.

^ I would do the same thing, maybe plasti dip the "C63 AMG" and "6.3" emblems red to contrast with all of the black

i might be in the minority but i think the chrome is a nice accent, especially on white.

a well done black out is really sharp too, without a doubt.. i think people have the most problem with the grill since its hard to wrap and plastidip looks pretty meh there while paint chips from road debris.

My grille has actually held up pretty well with the plastidip. And I doubt you're the minority on the chrome. I've left my emblems alone because I think it adds a nice touch.

Personally, I think doing a color on badges can be a bit tacky. I couldn't see myself doing red badges on a black car, though they would definitely show up.

However, I think getting some CF wrap and wrapping emblems on a black car would look very sharp. Especially if it had other small CF accents around or the interior is CF. I'm liking this idea...

Just did my car all black. I left the emblems as I felt they pop a bit more. Everything all black looks plain IMO, to the point I'd just pull the badges instead. Either way, good choice!!!

I get a little wild with whenever I mod my cars and some of the stuff I do is a little controversial, I like to do things that no one else does so red badge would be a an option for me with any car haha. The CF wrap on the emblems sounds like a good idea, that would add a very subtle yet very sharp look to the car.

Agree for a black car.

Mine is silver and I have 100% blacked out chrome.

Two colors is sharp. I don't like three.

Don't wanna thread jack, but since it kind of fits...

How difficult is it to plastidip or wrap the emblems, and how much does each cost?

Plastidip is fairly easy, just put tape around the emblem leaving a square opening, apply plastidip, wait for the plastidip to dry, peel off whatever excess plastidip you have. Wrapping is a lot more difficult and it's pricier, you should be able to plastdip all of your emblems with one can of plastdip which is like $7

Update: I finished most of the plasti dip last night. The emblems look perfect. I also did the to part of the windows, and screwed up the bottom of one of them. This morning, I am working the grille and bottom trim of windows. I decided to disassemble the grille and to all the parts independently. Here are a couple pics. More to come when done.

Plasti dip was incredibly easy and looks great! Hope it holds up.

I decided to leave the 6.3L badge chrome. I want it to stand out (for now).

Looks good. Thanks for the video...just spent the last 2 hours watching videos on you tube. F the wrap! I don't have the patience to put the screen protector on my iPhone without getting bubbles.

Definitely going to look into doing the gloss black plastidip to all the chrome on my 507 when I get it. Think it will pop on the white and (hopefully) go well with the gloss black trim pieces that come on it.

Looks great, Cabo, you did a good job. Gotta say I am feeling a little jealous seeing your carbon fiber trim exterior pieces.

some more pics. The bottom lower trim on the windows was a PITA! I may bring it up to a body shop and have them paint matte black.
