Wait for the 5.5TT C63 or get the current model with disccount
Folks,
I use to own a 2009 C63 that I purchased back in 2009 new(traded my 08 C6 Z06 for it). I had the C63 AMG from August 2009 to April 2012 and I loved it but I sold it last year. My C63 had a full Stage II from MHP...
It has been a long year and a half without the C63 and I miss one really bad. I am confident that the current C63 AMG will start getting big discounts next coming year in preparation to the new 2015 model(5.5TT AWD).
Would you wait for the new one or try to negotiate the current model for a significant discount?. My last C63 was discounted $12000(HUGE). I love the current 6.2l N/A engine but the 5.5 TT with AWD is a better deal as far is performance goes.

You may be waiting a very long time as it's generally accepted now that the next C will not get the 5.5TT, but a smaller 4.0TT. There's still some disagreement on awd or not.

Well, the sources say that the next gen C model is for 2015. To be honest my RWD C63 use to pull great from trafic lights with the Nitto 555 r 285s

God I hope they don't get rid of that exhaust I'll actually cry if a 2015 C63 sounds like a POS. That exhaust note is better then sex.

Rumors will be rumors, but to my experience ALL AMG V8s sound Fantastic.
I personally have a 507 on order, and am really hoping for more info on the 2015 C63 to surface before I take delivery of it. If the next Gen C63 comes out with the following, I will wait and not take delivery of the 507:
5.5 V8 (think SLK55 with AMG Cylinder deactivation)
460+ hp with 450+ lb-ft of torque
AMG 4Matic - hoping for a 33 F/67 R distribution or RWD with FW power distribution when needed.
I'm also interested to learn more about the 4.0 V8, as I don't have a problem with smaller engine displacements as long as AMG keeps the hp war lead in the market. LOL

I agree. Had looked into the C45 AMG with 4Matic, but because it is FWD with RW power distribution I decided to go ahead and jump up to the 507.
If the next gen C 63 AMG matches Audi with a 4.0, the AMG will still have the better sound.

I hear from my dealership that the new C63 engine is going to be 5.5 TT, mainly because it's going to share the same engines with the CLS and E class. Personally, I don't think it makes any sense to have a separate engine just for the C class, not to mention a 4.0L V8 TT.
What would be really awesome is a 4.0 V6 TT for the new C63. I'm sure tuners would have a field day with the tuning possibilities with that kind of engine.

my wife bananas! :D
seems like you are not adverse to the idea of trading in early. (trading 08 vette for 09 c63)
get the c63 now at a great price... enjoy it and when the new C AMG comes out decide what you want to do. I personally dislike the waiting game especially with something that we have no idea what we are waiting for and how long. life is short... enjoy it now

The slk55 currently has a special engine just for it. However the plan is to replace that I hear with the new 4.0tt. The 4.0tt will be used in the new C, SLK, and the SLC if everyone is right. Supposedly its good for 600hp, heck they might replace the 5.5tt with it some day to meet all this cafe nonsense.

I've got a feeling that the power will be about the same either way. Hopefully coming from the factory with no less than 475, but we'll see. Can't have the C class beating everything else in the AMG line up. We know it'll be quick, and we know that it will sound better than anything else in its class, but what is the MPG? Anybody else with me.... no.... ok....

Power will no doubt stay the same, the C is already eating into the sales of all other AMGs because it has more variants plus the 4.0L V6 TT seems more feasible , can't have the C outperforming other AMGs with the 5.5TT if they all share same engine

Would you wait for the new one or try to negotiate the current model for a significant discount?. My last C63 was discounted $12000(HUGE). I love the current 6.2l N/A engine but the 5.5 TT with AWD is a better deal as far is performance goes.

Welcome back if it happens. If I were in your position I'd pick up a 507 planning on keeping it for two years min. I would never buy a first-year production car again. I was (in my city or in the entire region) #3, #4 and #1 for three BMW M cars. The teething build quality issues were annoying enough but what irritated me most were the options withheld from the launch versions that appeared the following year, all of which I would have ordered if they had been available.
Slightly OT, did you ever dyno your C63 at Dyno-Comp in Scottsdale?

Also to the OP, I would try to negotiate for a current model now. Like bhamg said, first year models still have kinks that needs to be worked out. I would personally like to see any/all problems with the new platform first before I invest in buying it.

Folks, I am the originator of this thread. I just came from the MB dealer from test driving the Coupe 507(what a beast!!) and shortly after that I test drove a coupe E550(what a beast also).
The 507 had tons of power on the top and the rpms went to the 7500rpm all the way pulling. The E550 coupe(RWD) had an inmense amount of torque in the mid range and also a great top end. I was equally impressed. Remember, I came from a C63 AMG with full MHP stage II.
I am negotiating getting the new 2014 E550 4 matic because the C63 no longer have the huge discounts that I got back in 2009 ($12000 off). The C63 coupe 507 had the nicest f-king wheels I ever seem so far.

I started a thread about this engine and it went no where. But, this is what I found after reading an article on this new engine.
I will be going into the SLC and SLS when they are released and freshened up. The 4.0TT wont be a C class exclusive engine...
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...177-178-a.html
Edit: With the new engine being twin turbo charged I would wait for it to come out. The power potential with forced induction particularly twin turbos makes it a no brainer in my mind.

Just kidding. It will still be a nice care either way. Somebody else mentioned this above, but I'd be very hesitant to jump in on the the first (or even second) production cycle of any new model. Especially one with a new engine. If the 4.0TT was already in the SLC, SLS, or even SLK then at least problems with the engine might be know. I know I don't want to go through the head gasket issue that I've heard others talking about on here.

I don't agree with this. The other AMG models are not the same target market as the C. The other larger/heavier sedan models have very specific luxury target markets (SL/SLS is yet a another target market).. I doubt those target markets care if the lighter (and less luxurious C) runs slightly faster in the quarter..

Hence the smaller V8 going into the C class. I did read somewhere that AMG does believe that the 63 is eating into their mid and upper range cars because it is so potent.
