AWD for 2015 C63's in Australia?

It looks like we might get the all-wheel-drive version of the next C63 in Australia.

Direct quote from the article:

“The only thing is that it would have to be either all 2WD versions, or all AWD versions, so we would have to make that decision,” he said.

Tough call, but given the traction issues with the current C63, my guess is they go with AWD.

AWD will obviously get the BMW M and Audi RS killing performance stats, but IMO it will lose the AMG-ness of the C63 which is what makes it fun.

(a)'12 C63 P/P, LSD, 19" m/spoke,comfort pack. (b)Astra SRI.
Question

An interesting article, but without any REAL facts.
My own opinion is that the next "C63" will not be AWD.
Cheers, Pickles.

It's funny that in a C63, the only thing working harder than the engine is the traction control but it seems we all still want RWD.

The way I read the article, it doesnt sound like the writer has much actual information, and the majority of it is speculation.

I have had and drive Audi Quattros and I love the AWD.

Give me an AWD 5.5TT C63 anyday, with Weistec upgrades you will be going low 10s all day long.

2015 E63S AMG & 2013 GLK350
Next C63 should be bi-turbo 500+ horsepower and awd which will make waves in the automotive world the same way the original '08 C63 did

On the awd vs rwd issue would be nice if it were left as an option but if I had to choose one or the other 4matic ftw

Apparently Benz Australia are going to open the flood gates so to speak with all the new models and configurations that are available in the States to be available here.

They made reference to the AWD version of the E63 S in one article I recall so I assume they will sell the AWD C63 here too if available. It makes sense - lots of people want AWD (me included) as it enhances performance dramatically.

The negatives so far for the new model is that it is going to be bigger and I don't reckon it will sound as good too. But that remains to be heard. I'm just so surprised that no one has taken a video of the new C63 going around the test track - only photos??

Ya can't sell the AWD version of the E63S in Aus, because it's only engineered in LHD.
My prediction is that the "new" C63 will NOT be AWD
Cheers, Pickles.

There was an earlier article that stated the head of the AMG drivetrain division Dr Thater confirmed there will be a 4Matic version of the next generation C-Class AMG. And unlike the current E63 it will be available in RHD as 4Matic. The next E-Class AMG due in 2016 will be 4Matic RHD too.

We can only wait and see.
