2012 C63 Carbon fiber steering wheel
Please someone chime in if you know the answer.
I was at the dealership today to swap the steering wheel from my old C63 to the new CLS63 and the steering buttons are not working.....
I was told by the tech that in order to make the controls work i have to replace the module which is @ $2000. I have until saturday to try to find a steering wheel that would work on my old C63 so i can swap it. He also said that no matter what other steering wheel i get, the controls/buttons will not work, because it was not made for my car. (ii think it's bull****!) Anybody here interested in doing a purchase/trade with me? If i don't don't anything till saturday, it will be gone....

I'm not understanding ur situation very clearly.. Ur C63 steering wheel doesn't work on ur CLS63? And u are looking for a replacement steering wheel for ur C63? U don't have ur stock steering wheel?

i know for the pre-2012 c63s we needed to replace the steering column in order for the steering wheel controls to work. Maybe you need to swap the steering column along with the steering wheel? Might be worth a shot if you have the means of doing it.

That steering wheel looks amazing. If I was still in town I'd buy it off you and you could have my stock wheel to trade in with your C63.

I want to sell the CF steering wheel for $750 + your OEM in exchange (like Matt said) so i can install it on the old C63. I got 2-3 days left. max... than it will be gone.

I would love to do this but I won't be able to get mine to you by Saturday.
Anyway your dealership is full of crap. There are 2 things which you can replace to get this to work.
First, like noodleman said, you can swap the steering column which is ~1k from mbpartsonline. This I'm not too sure about.
Second, which I'm 99% sure is the problem, is the backing/ contact plate on the steering wheel. When I got my facelift steering wheel, the seller sent it with a wrong backing plate. Simply switch out the backing plate to the correct one and you're good to go. Best part is that the backing plate does not cost a lot.

Thanks for all the help. Quick question...can i change the backing plate of the (2x) existing steering wheels instead of trying to order the right one? Simply take the backing from the CLS63 steering and putting it on the Carbon fiber C63 and vise versa...would that work? Do you know?
