New 507 lost wheel lock lug while driving.
There was supposed to be an all around inspection of the vehicle before I took deliver, however seems some items were missed. I had a mirror housing fall off at 80 on the highway, just blew off. Left the bulb, wiring connectors and everything else intact, but mirror housing was gone!! Now checking the other side mirror housing, I have noticed that it is on loosely and has a lot of play in it.
Then after leaving dinner today, I left the [parking lot, some of my buddies were in the street to watch and hear me take off. While as I left the driveway entrance and turned left to head out, my wheel lock just came tumbling off and out. One of my friends yelled to me that it happened and I stopped. I was a little freaked out. Needless to say when I got home, I noticed that ALL lugs were very loose. SCARY!! So I took the time to use the correct lug wrench and wheel lock to go all around the car and tighten everything. Yes, I had to tighten everything. Pretty scary when you think about it. I got pretty lucky.
So, on a new 507 I have found much fit and finish and quality control issues. I have everything tight and right now, with the exception of the passenger mirror. I hoping to fix it soon.
Anyone else experience flaws on their 507's??

I had a couple loose lugs on my SLS. Loose lugs are common, everyone knows you should check you lugs on a new car and new wheels every 50 miles or so for the first couple hundred miles, especially if youre driving it hard. If you didnt know that you guys dont deserve to be driving AMGs. As for the mirrors, I have no explanation

Costs like half the price and don't have to deal with this kind of crap

No one has been tempering or messing with my car. I assure you. I am thinking it came from Germany like this. Wheels weren't properly secured from the factory. I've been doing no hard driving, but most were loose on every wheel. Including 2 lock nuts. Both mirrors were also put on shoddily. I gave already corrected the drivers side, but after further examination the passenger side is really loose. It definitely needs correction and to be properly tightened up.
I do generally check the lugs on a new vehicle and my old ones too. However I only have a few hindered miles on my 507 and haven't been driving it hard.
MB, slacking on final quality checks.

I lost 2 gorilla lug bolts, however they snapped off in the hub. The rest had rust on the threads before I trashed them....I didn't feel anything driving btw.

Google it!!! Call a wheel shop in the morning, call a lug nut manufacturer in the morning. Steel lugs on new alloy wheels can be torqued to factory spec and loosen themselves to the point of falling of in under 40-50 miles. Lugs should be re-torqued at least every 50 miles for the first couple hundred miles.

Oh ya, really? It has nothing to do with snobbery, just common sense. Just can not believe all these "enthusiests" have no clue that lugs back off on new alloy wheels.

Yes, if u remove your wheels or buy new wheels.. it is very important to re-torque (any wheels as a matter of fact, including oem) after 80km of driving.

Do you own or have ever owned a late model Maserati? Or just your friends??
I totally disagree with your above statement that
Maseratis are far from "pieces of *****"
I currently drive a 2012 GranTurismo MC and it is by far the best car I have owned. My daily driver is a 2013 Camaro ZL1 (soon to be replaced with the 507 as my daily driver)
For reference I have owned late model
996,997 carrera's 4's , Panamera S. recently.

Off topic regarding wheel lugs.

AFAIK the wheels locks are all dealer-installed. The cars do not come with wheel locks from the factory.

I am happy that you own and are happy with your Maserati. It is a beautiful car and a pleasure to drive when it is working. While I have never owned a Maserati, I have owned 4 Porsches, 3 BMW M's, and several Mercedes, Lexus, and Infinitis. My friend's 2008 Gran Turismo was continually in the shop for extended periods of time because the mechanics were either preparing for a race or waiting on parts from Italy. It was both unreliable and crazy expensive to maintain.
On a separate note I am taking delivery of my C63 later today.

And on the (off) topic of Maserati, while the newer models (2000+) made under Fiat ownership are miles ahead of the Maserati of old, they're still nowhere near the Germans in terms of quality control and reliability. Since 2007 they're built by Alfa Romeo and now Chrysler. There's a reason why Daimler divorced Chrysler.

Yep, I might be a tool but at least I am not an ignorant or uninformed tool....and WTF does my sig have to do with anything? It's an MB site so I list some of my MB's, why am I any different than half the other people that post on this forum and list their cars and mods in their sig??? There are 5 other people in this thread alone with their vehicles/mods listed in their sig, are they tools too?
