"Oil" Leak, Rear Right Tire...thoughts?
Noticed a spot in my garage on Monday morning...Oily dark substance near the rear right tire. Had a look under the car...surely something is leaking....the spot was there again this morning. Going to get it checked tomorrow...any thoughts?
-Brake line?
-Axle boot?

It could also be from the shock. Such a leak from a shock happened to me 4 years ago on the rear right of one of my cars.

Yes diff oil has a distinct smell. When mine was leaking it also was dripping onto the exhaust so the smell of burnt diff oil is very noticeable.

Jack your car up and check for oil on your differential.
Just happened to me as my diff is leaking but unlike you i don't have any spots on the floor. Just the diff being covered with oil.
If not check your brake lines. GL

Yupp mine wasnt really "dripping" either it was "weeping" or oozing out of the driver side diff seal. This over time caused it to accumulate and get onto the exhaust that would than burn it off when hot and it smelt weird. New seal fixed it right up

Bumping an old thread..
Ever find the issue? Noticed a nice oil spot in the garage today, right by rear right tire.
Just had the brakes done so I'm guessing brake line got pinched somewhere along the line...

Low miles is almost as bad as high miles some times, so just sitting for long periods of time, seals dry out and can cause a shock to leak as much as putting 150k on it, could also just be defective and was destined to leak early, but fix it is get a new one!

Merc showroom in India, Bangalore quoted 650$(incl labor) to replace the failed shock....will the other shocks also fail overtime? Or Is it better to change the entire set with aftermarket ones like KW or bilstein?

Personally I would not change just one shock, not unless the vehicle has very low mileage. The minimum could be a change in pairs, or for less potential problems change all four.
