Ya definately looks like it has problems coming of the line. Maybe try to lift the back end up even higher to fit some taller tires on it. We have to do that on supra's all the time to stuff some 28" tall tires on there. Also helps to have boost by gear, which obviously you cant use with a blower. Maybe toss some nitrous on it in the top end, get you another 10mph and .2 seconds. - ya not really worth it just though id throw it out there. Always awesome to see your cars handle business.

You guys should be able to get LOW 9's if you can get a better launch. 1.6x 60ft isn't so hot with that amount of power.
With that amount of power, you should be able to get 1.4x 60fts, which would get you down to mid to low 9's.
To do so you, that means completely turning the car into a dedicated drag car with 15" conversion, built axles, built drive shaft, softer rear springs and drag race dampers. I'm not sure if that car uses a TC, but if so, a high stall (4000+ TC) would be needed to....

Are you hooking up out of the gate?
If your hooking up and not spinning, a 15" conversion wont do much as traction isn't your issue. What I would do is I would have Weistec look at your tune and add see if they can safely add some timing to the low end. When I drag raced my 10 second SRT8 I was stuck in the 1.7x 60ft and just by a simple tweek of the tune I gained a 1/10th out of the gate and got into the 1.6x 60fts. I was running 17" DR's FWIW.
Great ET overall... get that 60ft down and you'll set another record. 1/10th out of the gate is good for 2/10th up top.
Overall though, Good job mate

We have gone a 1.46 60ft in ecambell's CLK Black Series on his 10.01 pass. It is all a matter of track prep, suspension, tire, and possibly some tuning to get the car to no spin like crazy. We will be back at it on December 14th at Famoso. We suspect a mid to low 9 second pass with the small changes we will be making.

Though this isn't my set up and I wasn't the driver, but this is the "life" I came from - HEMI Drag Racing:
7.85 @ 176mph
Notice the launch.
You should be able to just stomp the gas out of the gate and head hook. Either loading up the verter or flashing the verter... different methods, but the launch with a proper set up and tune should be violent (as you seem to know if a previous car you tuned did a 1.4x 60ft).
You shouldn't tune to avoid tire spin... cars (like above HEMI) are making much more power without tire spin. I suggest adding MORE power, MORE timing at launch. And possibly throwing in a different torque converter as the current one doesn't seem to be launching at a high enough RPM. I've seen guys put in 5000rpm high stall converters...
With the HEMI platform we could Datalog to see exactly what was going on... can you do that with the CLK?
Just trying to help get that record even better mate

I went 1.41 with the car less than 2 weeks in Texas ago and it was closer to optimum but still more than 10% wheel spin. I think the car is good for a 1.25 60ft.

With a proper drag set up the driver shouldn't have to worry about tire spin.

Gotta love rumors lol. Trans is by no means "stock" nor is anyone claiming it is. I have posted a zillion times about the trans being built over the past year or so and the mishap we had with it 1/8 mile testing out at Irwindale last year when trans blew and parts flew into cockpit and broke Steve's foot in a shake down pass which headed us back to the drawing board to have a special scatter shield fabricated(not much room in there), that's no secret but we are not running a Powerglide in it if that is what you or anyone is inferring. I think anyone can click on any of my or Weistec's YouTube videos from the half dozen or so Airstrip events I have participated in over the past 12 months a see and hear me going through the gears while using the factory paddles, or at least going through 6 of them anyhow I don't think I hit 7th in the 1/2 mile and I did not run the CLK at the Michigan Mile.
