I just don't understand how you buy a car with certain options and expect MBUSA to add an option 4 or 5 years later to your car

I bought the euro spec taillights with the yellow blinkers for my car and I would never have gone to the dealer to try and code everything . I would have been laughed at

OP, those mirrors looks x1000 time than the old mirrors as is. Making them fold was a bonus. Rock them as is, they were priced much cheaper than the stealer ship & they came pre-painted.

An indy MB shop was the best solution.

I hope the guys at MB do their job and works this out.
Ok gotcha. I mean, it's kind of frustrating to see the OP suffer. I mean, this is the exact reason why I wont change my rear lights to 2012, I have not found a solution to the SAM coding. I won't just buy the lights then roll up to the dealership and say fix this and make it work you jerks!!!

I agree with u Zeph on the updated tails.. I find it strange that 2009 can be SAM coded, but not the 2010.

That's enough for me to keep my old tails, I don't want to get raped by the stealership couple hours just for them to tell me they can't program it.

I agree. I have bombed the forum with threads this past couple of weeks..but half of them have to do with legitimate questions regarding sourcing modifications or them fitting correctly. And while I tried a search prior to posting most of the threads, not everyone has hundreds to throw away.

If you don't wanna read it, don't click on it

For those that have helped, thanks again!

Why don't you just sack up and buy a car with folding mirrors? This thread was an enjoyable read.

Why don't you find something better to do with your time than dig up old threads?

Yes, I'm gonna buy a whole new car just because these new mirrors don't fold. Totally what this thread was about.

Jesus bro....you must have a lot of time on your hands.

??? I bought the mirrors from Matt and not Craigslist, but okay

Also, I'm sorry, but all my research, the dealership service advisor, and even Matt told me it is a simple fix via STAR. So when the advisor told me they couldn't do it, I needed to figure out why. It's part of the reason I bought the mirrors aside from the improved looks...parking can be tight around the bay area and folding mirrors help ease worries.

If you don't like the thread, don't read or click on it. Someone holding a gun to your head? Maybe if you bought a modification and it didn't work as expected, you'd give up and say **** it, but others would like to try and figure out why it didn't work out as planned. IF you think that constitutes *****ing and moaning, then so be it.

So take a ****ing sleeping pill...

The reason they dont want to help is it's a pain in the ***. Things arent like they used to be. Old s-class's had about 50 option selections for the instrument cluster alone. Put one in wrong and it doesnt work right. The explanations of each option are terrible and usually have nothing to do with what you'd think. So to try and make things simpler on techs they did away with all this extra coding. The programming request goes to germany they analyze the vin and send what the car needs to program it with those options. It isn't that they just dont want to deal with you. It's a big deal to change things like this. I dont really forsee anyone being able to help you on this. The coding involved is for the door control modules, central gateway, and instrument cluster. None of which on a 2010 can you manually select what options the car is equipped with.

this thread is funny
I cant get over how OP went to the dealer to get folding mirrors programmed.
Dealers more than likely wont touch modified cars. There must be someone in Cali that can program them. Ever try Steve from MBenzNL?

Dealers dont care if your car is modified, as long as you are willing to pay and there is a competent tech <--- usually not the case. hence why they shy away.
