What's taking them so long to build my 507?
I've got a steel grey 507 coupe on order with almost all the options. I placed the order at the beginning of August. As of last month my dealer said that it hadn't even entered production yet! How long have other people had to wait from the time of order to delivery?

I ordered mine end of august as well. My pick up date was supposed to be December, they f'd up and couldn't get an allocation for a 507 in December, so It is confirmed for February. I ordered through EDP, but I dont' think that should matter in terms of when the car is ready to when I ordered it. Do you have a confirmation? this is something I would ask for if not, cause my dealership gave me verbal confirmation for a month before I flipped out and the GM got involved to only realize they F'd up the order. Ask for paperwork showing this is confirmed, without that, you may not have an order. FYI, I got another 2k off for these screw up, may be able to do the same if need be.

C63 AMG 507
The dealership should be able to show you where their build allocation is for the C63 AMG. They only get so many slots for them. I just ordered a C63 AMG 507 Coupe about two weeks ago from MB of North Houston, they had two slots for them. One was a December build that already has the options locked, and one the third week in January. The dealership should be able to show you the order sheet for your car, mine has a PO# on it and all the options for the car. They told me late Feb/early March delivery, so in the end 3-4 months wait time from time of order. I don't have my VIN yet, so it's still conjecture until a VIN is assigned. :|

It all about the PO!
Search for my other thread on the PO. VIN is fun to get once the car is built but for those waiting ALL the matters is the PO. If a dealer really has/had an allocation to build the car (which there are none left for 507) then they would be able to enter the build in to the system and would get a PO for the car. Once that happens it will list estimated build date. So, if they will not give you the PO then you do not have a 507 that you ordered coming. I'm not saying they cannot find you one. They are probably stringing you along til they can find one at another dealer to trade and bring it in or maybe they will release more build slots for the coupe in the future? but the sedan is done.

Thanks for the insights. It's probably time to get more assertive with the dealer to make sure I'm not being strung along.

C63 AMG 507
My dealer gave me the order sheet and PO# without having to ask for it. It shouldn't be a big deal for yours to give you that information.
I ordered a C63 AMG 507 Coupe on 11/16.
Mars red, black leather, can't wait!

507 SEDAN
I ordered my sedan in Feb. and received a different one in Sept.
It all depends on the allocation and PO. If you can find a dealer with those to provide you, you have been all but guaranteed a car.

There are a couple of things you can ask for:
1. When is the cars estimated build date? They can't give you an exact date, but they can give you a range. My E63 was the 2nd decade of Dec. It then got moved to November. My car was built on Nov 3rd.
2. Once you have that range based on a confirmed PO, you can ask for a build slot number. You can then use that to compare to other people to see when it will be built.
3. Once you have a confirmed build date, about 2 weeks before that date, your VIN will become available.
That is my experience anyway.
If you don't have any of the above, you don't have a car.

My MB sales guy is not getting back to me. (Maybe because of the TGiving holiday). Time to start thinking about an alternative to the C63 if this whole deal goes south though.

What a disappointment - it turns out that the dealer for some reason failed to get my order in on time and now they don't have any more allocations or some mumbo jumbo. Bottom line, I'm out of luck getting a C63. I'm totally fed up with MB. I'm going to get an RS5.

I started counting available 507 listed on the Internet. I stopped counting after 30. There are a lot available. Maybe missing an option or has an extra option or not the number 1 color. But they are out there if u really want one. I gave up on my dealer also. Once I made that decision I had one from across the country in my garage within a week.

This isn't a MB problem . . . it's a dealer problem.
Find another dealer.
Good luck though. That's unfortunate that they screwed you.
