F Type R Coupe KILLER?
Mercedes' response....might be even more insane
Talk of a new sports car built along the lines of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG dates back all the way to 2011, with numerous reports on the car, which was previously thought to be called an SLC AMG, emerging over the years. A very early test mule based on the SLS was spotted last year, though plans for that car were shelved on the basis it would be too expensive compared to its intended rivals, namely, the Porsche 911, Audi R8 and even Nissan's GT-R.
Mercedes-Benz apparently went back to the drawing board and devised a new sports car, as we now have spy shots of a prototype for it, which our sources tell us shares little with the SLS. The new car, which carries the internal code "C190" and is rumored to be called the "AMG GT", will target younger buyers than those of the retro-inspired SLS, and its styling, which already appears much more modern than that of the SLS, will reflect that.
It will have traditional doors and its engine, an AMG-built V-8, mounted up front. It’s not clear if all-wheel drive will be offered, but given AMG’s newfound love of all-wheel-drive cars it’s entirely possible. Another indication that all-wheel drive may at least be offered is the sighting of a Nissan GT-R testing alongside it in some of the shots.
We do know it will be significantly smaller than the SLS, as the spy shots confirm, meaning a lighter curb weight. A new aluminum spaceframe structure has been developed, which should help keep weight at or below 3,300 pounds. The SLS, which also features aluminum construction, weighs more than 3,600 pounds.
One likely engine option is a version of AMG's latest 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8, although a smaller twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 said to be in the works is also possible. Two different power outputs are expected, as evidenced by the different exhaust pipes on the prototypes. The most potent should offer upwards of 600 horsepower. AMG’s seven-speed SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch ‘box, meanwhile, will handle gear changes. It will be mounted at the rear to help even out the weight distribution.

The rear roofline looks awesome in those newer pics. Not really a direct competitor to the Jag F-Type R if it comes in around $150k though.

It looks cool but it's going to be turbo charged and sounds like crap comparing to the F-Type. The F-Type V8 sounds way way better than the M156 too.
You can get it for 92k + tx as of right now. I was there today again, test drove the car in the rain and it was all over the place with ESP on. Not sure if it's the tires or the ESP that barely works lol.

No I want the convertible then have it tuned to match the coupe numbers. I'm just trying to find someone who's willing to take over the lexus and i'm even offering a 5k incentive.. It's just that no one wants it because my monthly payment is too high and I only have 10k miles a year (800 miles a month). I pay $785 when people are paying $400. I messed up and bought the car on the spot without thinking.

It should be a pretty amazing car in term of performance given what AMG has been doing lately with their cars. However, I doubt that it can match the F-type in style and sound. Plus it won't be out in the spring of 2014 when I'm getting into my next car. Jaguar here I come....

Not disappointing here. I love the classic sports coupe layout that this seems to share with the outgoing SLS. AMG nails it!

I'd take that over the Jag for sure!
The Jaguar looks cool and all but I'd def prefer the Mercedes
