Anyone try NOS Octane Booster?
Anyone try this stuff? My idling much better after 30 miles of driving, more low end torque feel and definitely a little stronger on the top end. Car likes it...nos racing formula one not street one

Yeah, I tried that stuff and picked up 3/10th in the quarter mile. One 10oz bottle converted my gas tank into jet fuel. And my tunes spark, timing, and AFR didnt need to be adjusted either! Wonderful stuff, really.
Truth is dude, it doesnt add crap. Placebo at best. You pick up ZERO power from race fuel without your tune being adjusted... let alone a little swig of "octane booster" lol.

NOS raises your octane by one point, that means it takes your 93 to 93.1. Not enough to make any difference. I'll bet you .3 change in the 1/4 mile had nothing to do with a can of NOS in the tank.
Torco is a different story. One can raises the octane of 15 gallons of gas by 4, so your 93 would become 97. It can bring pump gas all the way to 104, but probably cheaper to just buy 104. If you are tuned for higher octane Torco will allow you to make more power.
I can only buy 90 at the pump here in Alaska so I have been using Torco in my Lightning during the summer for years so I can run a more aggressive tune with more boost than I could with 90 octane. In the winter I lower boost & timing to run 90 octane.
Doing the same with my CL65 except I can't swap blower pullies like I did on my L so actually just reloading the factory tune in winter. The throttle response with my Eurocharged tune is great, but sure makes driving a CL65 tough on ice!

mdgrwl is correct. Octane boosters doesn't do much for power without a proper tune that is specifically tailored to a higher octane level. Anything you gain is purely a placebo effect.
My tune is set for 91 octane and I've put 102 octane in it once just to see how it feels. Truth is, it runs A LOT smoother, but in terms of power gains there wasn't anything significant. It may have felt faster, but that's about it.
Plus, I heard that these additives can foul up spark plugs and clog various engine parts...better off using a higher octane fuel if you have access to it.

Also, even if Torco does raise octane as high as your claiming, the point is still this - HIGHER OCTANE DOES NOT = MORE POWER.
At the track, you can purchse VP 100 Octane Fuel. It adds nothing to your time. You gain zero power. YOUR TUNE MUST BE SET UP TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE EXTRA OCTANE. Without that, your get nothing.
Your timing, spark and AFR must be advanced for the extra octane. If it's not, you wont gain any power.

96 and 08 911 turbos
torco works great to prevent detonation under extreme circumstances (long track sessions during the summer). As noted above, it won't raise power by itself unless your car is experiencing knock retard. The additive is basically toulene and MTBE turns plugs orange, but doesn't drastically reduce life unless you are using a ton of it.
Finally, note that race fuel has different stoich A/F ratios than 93 octane and your tune should account for that if you would like it to run properly.

I was joking about the .3 gain in the 1/4 mile, please read my post fully.

Exactly, that is why I wrote "IF you are tuned for higher octane Torco will allow you to make more power"
Torco works for raising octane, period. Higer octane only makes more power when tuned more agressively than you can safely run on lower octane.
Yes Torco leaves a residue on plugs, combustion chambers, O2 sensors, etc. I have burned more than 20 gallons of it over the years (I buy it in 5 gallon cans) and I can confirm that when you quit running it the "residue" diasappears within a few huindred miles, just like it does with C-16.
