2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class: 2014 Detroit Auto Show Preview
Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel-drive system is standard on all U.S.-bound C-Class for the 2015 model year.
The 2015 C-Class is also the first to offer air suspension in its segment. The base model still comes with standard steel springs, but an upgrade to a comfort-oriented air suspension is available, as is a sporty version of the Airmatic air suspension as part of the Sport package. The Sport package's dynamic air suspension also lowers the car's ride height by 0.6 inches. Models fitted with the adaptive air suspension can choose from Comfort, ECO, Sport, and Sport+ modes via the Agility Select switch.
Beyond the performance upgrades, the new 2015 C-Class should also be the safest C-Class yet, with a host of safety features that were only recently launched on the S-Class and E-Class arriving in their smaller counterpart. Among the new features are standard-equipment including: Attention Assist; and Collision Prevention Assist Plus, which helps to brake the car if a collision is deemed imminent by the car's sensors, capable of autonomous braking from speeds up to 124 mph, and completely preventing rear-end collisions at speeds up to 25 mph. Optional safety extras include Distronic Plus, BAS Plus Brake Assist System, and Enhanced Active Lane Keeping Assist. Other safety enhancements available include Active Parking Assist; a 360-degree camera; and Traffic Sign Assist, which can read traffic signs to warn of speed limits, no-passing zones, no-entry signs, and more.
On the more entertaining side of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class's technology is the COMAND infotainment system, installed in either the standard 7-inch display or the optional 8.4-inch display offered as part of the Multimedia package. Mercedes' mbrace2 apps and connectivity technology is also baked into the COMAND system, with the option to have over twenty Mercedes Benz Apps integrated from the factory.
Look for more details, including live photos, video, and more, live from the debut of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in January.

Squeezing a S Class into a wheelbase of a C Class cant be a good thing.
Airmatic sounds like a recipe for disaster as well
I do like the interior (minus the ipad screen) as its a big improvement. But the exterior reminds me of a Infiniti.

I didnt like it at first but now I think the Sports model looks quite promising.
Add some AMG magic and it will be perfect.
I don't get the idea of AWD for all US-spec cars but who am I to judge.
The interior looks like it came from a concept car - hard to believe it's a production ready car.

I was talking to the Sales Manager at my local BMW recently and he said xDrive models outsell RWD models 10:1 (at least).
Companies are making the switch to AWD based on what the majority of customers want. Most people don't want to mess with swapping out tires each season.

I personally hate the absense of a semi normal shift knob. In my CLK63, I find myself using the knob to flick left and right for gears rather than using the the paddles. I think the presence of a shifter that just falls into the hand goes a LOONG way towards making a shift-o-matic palatable to an old school 5 speed driver.
And I absolutely DESPISE the screen sticking up in the air. I'd rather have hideous air snorkels up there than that god awful screen. Setting the screen into the dash/console seems such a no brainer obvious must do to me... I can't imagine what they are thinking or what focus groups are saying "oh yeah, make it like you stuck a $99 chinese tablet on with velcro tape, yeah, because that just ooozes elegance."
The exterior looks way to much like a BMW 3 series, which is to say, it's lost the understated elegance of the 2014 C Class, and I don't think resembling a blend of an S and the E in the face is going to buy back the lost elegance. The rear looks very 3 series... I was hoping more CLS, but it just didn't seem to manifest itself that way.
And the red leather interior also looks like.... wait for it.... M3.
Hopefully this is all just paranoia and pictures and I'll like it when I see it in person. But I suspect not this time. Too bad there wasn't an AWD C63 507 or PP Sedan. That would have been the car to buy and drive and maintain for the long long long term.
This new one... I just don't see it having the same magic mix.

Yes but for people that live in nice weather (Florida, Cali etc) why don't manufactures offer the choice? It's not like RWD has to be engineered just for these people... in Europe they already offer the choice between RWD and AWD.
I'm getting SO annoyed with all these 'sport' AWD cars... these cars feel soulless.

I don't like the nav screen, but all in all this looks very promising. Am very interested in seeing the AMG version, and more importantly hear it moan.
@- Guilty - don't you drive an AWD Lexus IS? IMO the new IS is by far the ugliest and least engaging car in this segment. So I kinda don't get what the problem is with the new AWD C. I'm sure a RWD will soon be on offer.

I agree that AWD is a must during the winter. But I HATE it when the road is dry. SO freaking boring.
As of right now I'm trying to move to Cali. Working out the logistics. As soon as I move the Lexus is going away and will be quickly forgotten. I have my eyes on the F-Type.
Also, I would like to add that I'm not against AWD for regular cars (C250, C300 etc) but my problem is AWD in thew new AMGs that are being released. If I'm buying an AMG I want it to be RWD. Period. I couldn't care less about 0-60 time or traction off the line.

All the guys over on the BMW forums are lining up to get one and here most folks are bashing it.
Personally, I believe that this model will absolutely DOMINATE the entry-level luxury sedan market.
The interior is just so much better than anything out there. Hell, it looks nicer than the interior on the W212 E-Class.

For those that want rear wheel drive performance sedans and coupes there's always BMW and all the precise refined blah blah blah that all the magazines rave about. But after thrashing the new E63 around the drag race, slalom, and road course this past fall I'm sold on AWD it's much more useful day to day to have the added traction and stability. I want traction and 0-60, along with too much power (no such thing really) and the ability to tune it for more. Struggling for traction with my car especially when the weather turns cold is no fun.

could barely tell the front apart from the current E
I love the elegance of the design, but the car just looks so puffy, and that gives it a CLA look, which IMHO looks kind of like a toaster.
Did the coupe's pictures leak yet?

It doesnt look bad but its annoying they basically scaled down an S class. like cmon....Benz isnt porsche lol
agree 100% I want driving enjoyment not 0-60 time.
if bmw had a V8 in the new M3 i would be all over it! also didnt enjoy driving the E63 at the academy as much as my C63. Sure its faster but I'm just trying to have some fun in my car.
Yes I do and I love the way it looks but it doesn't have much under the hood. It's a winter beater brother, I live in NYC. My CL63 didn't survive.
