My 63 with 114k mi / 183k km just went in for the dreaded head bolt surgery (started drinking coolant).
Just a cautionary tale for those of you that DD or start getting up there in mileage. It seemed that most failures were around 30-50k mi so I assumed I was in the clear but alas, alas...

First post here, hello everyone....
Maybe UK cars are slightly different but my late 2010 registered pre-facelift C63 is several thousand engines into the new headbolt range.

It's not a matter of different. Other countries outside the US base model years on the calendar, while we follow a system whereby the auto makers can define the model year however they choose. So your car would actually be a 2011 in the US.
The only way to know for sure is to run the VIN which provides the engine number.

Yes the UK and several other countries label cars by the year they were built, whereas US is a model year. In the UK this can lead to weird stuff like a 2011 C63 could be pre or post facelift depending on what month it was built.Originally Posted by dougC63

I would venture a guess that your build date is after 7/2010.

Proud new owner!
Had the the car inspected at a local MB/BMW indy. With a bit of guidance had about 1k of maintenance completed on the car at seller expense - Two new rears, oil change and a new battery.
Time to enjoy.....

Hi everyone I am new here and this is my first post
So I am looking to buy a C63
I'm torn between a MY 2010 and MY 2012
Of course there are better things on the MY 2012 but the MY 2010 was kinda cheaper
My question is , is the head bold issue is really bad ? And is the extra 30 hp and MCT gearbox makes a lot of difference ?
Im torn between vin - WDD2040772A724071 (2012 )
To WDD2040772F424668 (2009 )
I'm leaning to the 2009 towards the price but I heard so much better things with the 2012 car though
I'm located in Singapore by the way

The title of the thread refers to US model years. The UK labels cars differently (by year of manufacture). I am going to venture a guess your car was built in late 2010. Originally Posted by stephen183

This is explained literally three posts above you. Perhaps Valvestud could edit the OP with some of this information.
