Interest in offering a solution for loud headers
I have came up with a solution to quiet down the headers and still keep the flow unrestricted; no cats or odd devices. Just a simple muffler design I came up with that will include Vbands. In essence you will replace your resonator with my free muffler design ( basically 3 mufflers ) that I will share with MBWorld for free; but you will have total flow.
Making the header super livable.
NOTE
Please keep in mind that this is an unproven concept and any modification you do, based on this, is at your own risk.

Why 3 mufflers? I would think 2 mufflers will replace the resonator.
Any pictures?
What type of headers did you test with?

Our OEM mufflers are the reason it's so loud and the reason we have the "AMG" sound. However, once you free up so much flow ( by adding headers ) the mufflers act like megaphones making the car super loud.
That is the reason you add the 3rd muffler where the OEM resonator is. This will bring the volume back down to a decent level and still keep that AMG sound we love
The key is the right muffler which I believe I found to work best.
I'm currently looking for headers to try my set up with. Right now I'm running my H pipe and down pipes ( essentially no cats ) and after many versions this setup actually made the car super quiet lol.
No drone
No change in sound just a lower volume.

this will be a top notch product for sure! I might be interested when it's ready, the straight pipes scream pretty good now

It's an already made design with a few tweaks to make it a bolt on unit with Vbands for those running headers or my power pipes.

I don't want NASCAR on the way to dinner lol
AMG sound just with a modded note. The kind of sound that makes you look twice when it passes by.
But still classy yet let's you know that you have a nuke under the hood.

This thread is totally what I'm looking for. Keeping a deep tone like the stock amg sound but a little louder, NOT like a nascar hahaha. It's way too loud for my personal taste right now and not as deep sounding as I would like.
Maybe I should hold off on uninstalling my headers for now?!?

Dynomax xflow would be ideal in place on that resonator. I was about 90% sure to use before putting stock cats back in. Its an xpipe muffler design. Still interested in hearing how your sound when done.

So after chatting with a few members here and the shop working on my car, I've decided to leave my longtubes on and try some custom silencers that are being made now. Also I'll take out my x-pipe and put back the stock piece (assuming the resonator) to try to reduce the crazy loud headers and deepen the tone. I'll keep playing with it until I can get the tone that I want. Less trumpet and more amg haha. Will let you guys know how the silencers work out next week.
