Hey Guys - New to the forum. Currently drive a 2011 S5 and am looking at taking over a lease for a 2012 C63 AMG Edition 1. Original MSRP ~80K. Was wondering if anyone had a sense as to what the fair value is. Offer 1,169/month. 1200 miles remaining per month. 13 month lease remaining. Many thx!

Not sure I ever understood lease takeovers...
Your paying same amount they did when the car was new, why not just go for a new one built exactly the way you want it?
Not really answerin your question here, sorry.

Because where else can you get a very short term lease with (sometimes) favorable mileage for the same price as a 3yr commitment, with nothing down? Very convenient.

1169 isn't bad. Not great but not bad either. Prob not worth trying to save $100/mo if this is the car you want.

why not just buy a slightly used 2013 for like 60k-70k? unless the "AMG edition 1" means alot to you..but you're leasing it so I'm guessing it doesn't

I guess for some it very well may be favorable, but for others (like me) I wouldn't put more then 3000 miles on it in that period of time. Total waste of money for me.

I wouldn't pay that kind of dough for any lease that is crazy. I would buy a used one. I just bought a 2010 C63 AMG w 8,600 miles still under factory warranty, one owner, no accidents for 45K.

Best of luck

How the hell did you manage that?

A friend of mine leased his M3 convertible for less than that (0 down, fully refundable few payments security deposit).

Don't know man, was trying to get a winter beater, walked in to the dealer, saw the car put $2500 down and went back home with the lexus... few days later I figured people were paying $400 for the same car.. talk about a costly mistake

I'm not trying to sound like a dick when I say that but you could've accomplished the winter beater goal via the Honda, Toyota, Ford, or Chevy route. I just don't typically associate brand new Lexus with beater.

Maybe try Swap-a-Lease for getting rid of it without taking a bath for loss of equity?

Anyway, good luck.

Usually people trying to get out of leases for whatever reason will kick in some extra cash on the side to sweeten the deal. For example, either offering to pay for the transfer fee or losing the downpayment if they had put any money down on the car when they leased it to lower the monthly.

Also taking over a lease is a great way to experience the car without committing to it long-term just in case one does not like it.

I was paying the same amount for my 135i.. I got read of it at the dealership the hard way but... I'm getting delivery of my C63 P31 tomorrow. Last minute 2013 model, less than 1000$ for the lease with 2k downpayment.

That been said OP, I had a very good deal from the dealer, I believe yours is quite ok, plus you get it for 1 year so when the lease is up you can get the new version

alexmtl: Nice choice! I just got my C63 P31 Sedan about 5 months back and loving this car. It is truly a beast. My MSRP was about $78k. I put about $1800 total driveoff, 7500 miles per year (I barely drive so even this is too much for me), 3 yr lease, for $900 per month including tax. I was happy with the deal.. and love the P31 package..

Best of all, I have the best color combo in the world Steel Grey on Full Red Leather interior

Guilty: I was in a similar situation when I leased a new (at the time) 08 535i MANUAL, with $2k driveoff and $785 per month including tax. I felt horrible finding out after that I could of had the 550i M Sport for just about $30 more per month... I took me about 1 year to get rid of the car, $3k incentive, and maybe speaking to over 100 people from craigslist, ebay, and swapalease. It made it much harder that it was a manual. Good luck.

Sorry your friend is full of ****, unless he owns an BMW dealer as was given employee pricing. He probably didn't mention the $10k he put down.

yea go sell it in a year it will be worth around low 30's guess what you just lost $1k a month or more, but you sunk $45k into a car. I pay just over $1k a month and drive a brand new one not a 4 year old car.

Leases are great for certain people, people who want a new car often, people who own their own business and can write it off.

I like leasing, I always have a car under warranty, I am not stuck absorbing costs of an accident, my C63 has been smashed twice by other people its easily lost $25k in resale value and I am not responsible for it. Did I mention I can write the lease off in my taxes?

Next time you are at the dealer ask your sales person how many people lease and who leases, plenty of doctors, lawyers, business people lease for tax reasons. You can do various things with leases such as using a lease during the cars fastest depreciation year so you can write off the lease payments then purchase the car down the road.
