So at 1200 mi the sport mode dial is stuck on 'C' with no light. I can shift with the paddles but no s or s+ mode. Any ideas? I will take it to the dealer next week to get the diff fluid changed anyway but wondered if anyone else had this problem

Did you check for a blown fuse? There should be a fuse location chart in the trunk with the tools to change a flat tire.

It is possible the car has gone into safety mode for some reason and the dealership will know if there are any codes that are not displayed on the dash.

I checked the fuses and they look good. Guess I'll take it in and see about codes

Looks like you lost power to the selector knob and of course it defaults to C mode every time the car is switch off. Would be nice if MB made wire schematics available...

Same. I got really pissed but just turn off the car overnight and see if it comes back on. Worked for me.

Mine doesn't come back on. I have a service appt Friday to get the diff break in fluid changed so we will see, service manager says he has seen it happen before. I'll post the results!

happened to me once as well when it was new..also had a problem that sometimes the car electrics would shut off for 1 second( incl the headlights LOL). took it in and the tech said some wires were lose..they fixed it and its been fine since.

Took it in for service and the knob assembly is bad. New part ordered so we'll see!

quit spilling your coffee on the buttons j/k They probably wouldnt go bad if they wouldn't default to comfort every time you get in the car.

Its happening to my 2010 E63 too. It stays on C mode only. but it can go to S+ mode if I press AMG. Did they fixed your problem? How much was for the new parts? Sucks for me, i'm out of warrenty.

The dealer fixed under warranty It was just the knob but I do not know the cost. Good luck!

I just picked up my nice 2013 C63 AMG on Friday. Only 14K on clock. Just been serviced also etc. 2nd day in during many blasts around the sports mode knob would not illuminate when I started her up. Stayed in C mode obviously on the dash, but would and was dead. Left it for half an hour and all was fine again. It seems a couple of others have had this problem. Wondered if it was a common thing or maybe as one other member said it was a faulty knob (maybe from a grubby other driver previously) and when replaced no issue. I wondered should I flag it up now to the dealer or see how it goes? It may be intermittent but if its done it once it sounds like a replacement would be wise under warranty?

You can flag it with the dealer but if it is operating properly when you take it in I doubt they will do anything. There seems to be a few intermittent faults that pop up then go away never to return. If it is currently working correctly you will be wasting your time with the dealer.
