Tread width difference of 1/10th of an inch is 2.54mm which could be the difference between rubbing or not.

Remember the profile of the tyre makes a difference.

This is not saying that the 265/30/19 will work 100%, just saying that just because the 265/35/18 doesn't, doesn't mean the 265/30/19 won't.

You need to account for section width and sidewall height. The tread width can be a factor if it's a lot smaller than the section width which would indicate a much "rounder" transition to the sidewall and "could" account for more fender clearance.

255 should work, I haven't tried it myself but I know Matt (olszowa12) ran 255s with spacers without an issue.

Agreed, they are all relative to each other. The section width for both are 10.7" but the 19s has a tread width of 10 vs 10.1.

Without pretending to be an expert on this topic, I would say this means that the 19s would have a more rounded sidewall since the tread width is slightly less but the same section width.

I'm not sure why there is all this talk about section width. I'm putting the 275-shod wheels back on in two weeks. When I hit the next unavoidable dip at speed and cut some strips off the tire I'll pull over and photograph it. You'll see the strips are coming off the tread, not the side of the tire. The PSS's are crazy wide in the tread - IMO that is the problem.

Generally when "tread width" is mentioned, it's the actual contact patch. The tread still wraps around the corner to meet the sidewall. The radius/arch of that transition is a factor for fender clearance. Not to mention rim width is a factor as well since it can slightly change the shape.

The T1R's are not a bad tire. Not as good as the PSS's. I have the PSS's on the C63 now, I had the T1R's on my previous car.

The downfall to the T1R's in my opinion is the road noise after some wear. They get horribly loud. Just my experience with them.

Either way, the T1R's are a decent tire, not that far off in terms of price compared to the PSS's. I would probably spring for the 255 wide and run a mild stretch. If memory serves me correct the contact area on the stretched 255's will come close to the 265's.

You have an up angle "down the side" pic of the rear with that setup showing the clearance?
Jason check this thread out it has pics of my car with the current wheels I am running.
