need help from all the tyre gurus

Ok so i have just fitted my HR springs and spaces to my car but i am experiencing rubbing in the rear

im due for new tyres now but im looking for tyres that will not rub

Im running 10 mm spaces on the rear and 12mm spaces on the front
wheels are 19in multispokes

What is the best tyre size that wont rub 265 30 19 for the rear??
I want to try PSS do you think i will have issues???
What other tyres do you recommend?

On 19 X 9.5" +50 w/ PSS 265/30-19 I rub (hard) on severe compression dips.

On 19 X 10" +52 w/ PSS 275/30-19 I rub hard twice as often as on the 9.5's on both compression dips and medium+ potholes.

My car is on H&R coil overs, conservative drop so certainly set no lower than your springs.

Brad, 265s PSSs on OEM 19s with 10mm spacers will be touch and go, it has worked for some people without an issue.

If bhamg is saying 265s rubbed on his wheels then you can't be 100%.

OEM 19s are 9in w/ ET54, his wheels are 9.5in ET50. This means his wheels sit out 0.25mm than your setup. In saying that he has a 9.5in wheel compared to a 9in wheel so your tyre would run slightly squarer.

What are your wheel specs? spacers?

Brad I haven't put my spacers on yet, have been a little busy. I am hoping to shave down the bolts and put them on next weekend or the weekend after, if you can wait a couple of weeks I will let you know how mine goes, I already have 265 PSSs on my multispokes so that will give you a definite answer.

I am not running rear 10mm anymore due to my wheel spec was perfect with 265s (flush) against fender. I am only running them in the front at 10mm due to offset, needed them pushed out a bit.

I got the same setup as you... OEM multipokes with 12mm front & 10mm rear spacers.

I'm on 255/30/19 Yokohamas AVS sport (OEM size), and they are very close from rubbing but no rubbing at all, so my guess is you will rub with 265/30/19 unless you remove the spacers.

Im with Ros on this one.

PSS's have squared side walls, it will be hard for you not to rub with 265 wide tires. You can try it with rolled fenders. That may give you enough clearance.

If you want to stick to 265 wide tires, perhaps look for a tire that has a more rounded sidewall. IE: Toyo T1R or Falken 453.

Hey Jason,

If you are not lowered you should be okay, maybe rub on some hard compressions.

I'm on H&R springs. The AD08R have a 10.7" section width. It "should" be fine.

I believe the major issue is the height of the sidewall!

I know on my previous car, I would rub with a 275 Dunlop DZ101 but I didn't rub with the T1R's I replaced them with. Simply because the side walls were shaped differently.

But good luck! let us know how they work out for you. Its always nice to put more tire on the back of our beasts.

I think you will be fine. I am running 275/30/19 PSS on a 10" wide rim with an ET +54 and lowered on H&R springs. The section width is 10.9 according to the specs on Tire Rack. If they rub at all it is only on big dips and then only slightly so that I don't even really notice it. If your car is anywhere close to the specs of mine you will be fine.

From all the math I've done I think so as well. I ended up going with RE-11 because the front 245/35-19 AD08R have too low of a load rating. The 275/30-19 RE-11 has the same 10.7" section width.

You have an up angle "down the side" pic of the rear with that setup showing the clearance?

Here is the specs of the 265/35/18 vs 265/30/19.

The tread width of the 265/30/19 is 10in vs 10.1in for the 265/35/19.

Tread width difference of 1/10th of an inch is 2.54mm which could be the difference between rubbing or not.

Remember the profile of the tyre makes a difference.

This is not saying that the 265/30/19 will work 100%, just saying that just because the 265/35/18 doesn't, doesn't mean the 265/30/19 won't.

Size UTQG Max Max. Tread Tire Rim Meas. Sect. Tread
